Here are our recommendations for what to watch on TV this week:

The Courtship – Sunday, March 6
The Courtship – Season 1

For all of the period drama fans out there that loved the premise of something along the lines of Austenland and always wanted to know what a Regency era dating show would look like, then you’re in luck! NBC’s latest reality series follows a young woman looking for love and decides to look for it in Regency style. The Courtship debuts Sunday, March 6 at 8/7c on NBC.

Episode Description: A heroine looking for her duke will sign up for the ultimate social experiment in romance. Transported to a Regency-style England, a group of eligible hopeful suitors will have to win the heart of our heroine, and her court. Housed in a castle on the countryside, set on a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, the heroine and suitors will experience that with which dreams are made. From carriage rides and boat rides on the lake to archery and handwritten letters to communicate, they will be immersed in a time-traveling quest for love. In the end, our heroine and her suitors will discover if the ultimate romantic experience will find them true love.

Outlander – Sunday, March 6

The Revolution is looming upon Fraser’s Ridge as the season opens, leaving the family in a precarious position that may put their survival and way of life at risk. How will things turn out for the family? Outlander returns Sunday, March 6 at 9/8c on Starz.

Season Description: The sixth season of “Outlander” sees a continuation of Claire and Jamie’s fight  to  protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America. Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina — and perhaps most significantly — during a period of dramatic  political  upheaval. The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society,  which — as Claire knows all too well — is unwittingly marching towards Revolution. Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American  nation, Claire  and Jamie have built a home together at  Fraser’s  Ridge. They must now defend this home — established on land granted to them by the  Crown — not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care. For the Frasers and their immediate family, then, “home” is more than simply a site in which they live, it is the place where they are laying the foundations for the rest of their lives. If Season 4 asked, “What is home?” and Season 5 asked, “What are you willing to do to protect your home?” then Season 6 explores what happens when there isdisharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home you’ve created: when you become an outsider, or an ‘outlander,’ so to speak, marginalized and rejected in your own home.

Shining Vale is a new horror-comedy with a stacked cast including Courtney Cox and Greg Kinnear; the series follows a woman whose supernatural experience changes her. Shining Vale debuts Sunday, March 6 at 10/9c on Starz.

Series Description: “Shining Vale” is a horror comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Pat, who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same. Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Courteney Cox) is a former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn). Fast forward 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober but totally unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband (Greg Kinnear), and her teenage kids are at that stage where they want you dead. She was a faithful wife until her one slip-up: she had a torrid affair with the hot, young handyman who came over to fix the sink while Terry was at work. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, she and Terry cash in all their savings and move the family from the “crazy” of the city to a large, old house in the suburbs that has a storied past of its own. Everyone has their demons, but for Pat Phelps, they may be real.
