Blackouts leave nowhere to hide.
When the lights go out, the truth is revealed on All American: Homecoming Season 1 Episode 5, “Truth Hurts,” and no one walks away unscathed.
Now that she’s settled into her new life, Simone begins to question how honest she should be with her friends. Knowing she’s keeping a big part of her life from everyone, she considers telling them about her son.
That inner struggle ends up being interrupted by Thea. With a newfound trust and blossoming friendship between the girls, Thea turns to Simone for a surprising reason — dating advice.
Simone is also faced with Damon’s insecurities — not only is he insecure about her secretive relationship with JR, but he’s also worried JR may be dealing with his familial problems in an unhealthy way.
Cam challenges Keisha after she claims she’s ready to walk away from her dreams of becoming a choreographer, and the two continue to grow closer in the process.
Elsewhere, Amara and Marcus’ relationship — and the baggage of the past — comes to a head, forcing them to grapple with how to move forward.

Episode description: GETTING ANSWERS – When the power goes out at Bringston, everyone takes the time to reveal some surprising truths to each other. Simone (Geffri Maya) grapples with telling her friends about her son when she learns he will be in town for a visit, and Thea unexpectedly turns to Simone for dating advice. Damon (Peyton Alex Smith) becomes worried about JR (Sylvester Powell) who is dealing with issues in the wrong way. Cam (Mitchell Edwards) challenges Keisha (Netta Walker) when she is ready to give up on her choreography dreams. Meanwhile, Coach Marcus (Cory Hardrict) and Amara’s (Kelly Jenrette) relationship comes to a head, leaving them questioning how to move forward.
