Best-Selling Novel ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ Is Heading to Netflix
Everyone stay calm! The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo adaptation is happening!
Indeed, best-selling 2017 novel and Tik-Tok sensation The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkens Reid is getting the full Hollywood film treatment.
Liz Tigelaar (Little Fires Everywhere) will write the script. Taylor Jenkins Reid and Margaret Chernin are also on board to executive produce the project, which will be adapted at Netflix.
Here is the official synopsis for the film:
“Reclusive Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo chooses an unknown reporter, Monique Grant, to tell her life story. Evelyn recounts her time in the Golden Age of Hollywood, her rise to fame, and her seven marriages — revealing stunning secrets and lies. But through it all, one question remains: Why has she chosen Monique for her final confession?”

It will be interesting to see how Netflix tackles the story’s winding twists and turns (and seven husbands) in a singular film, especially with Freeform initially developing the novel as a series with The L Word‘s Ilene Chaiken and Jennifer Beals executive producing.
However, this is hardly the first of Reid’s books to get the adaptation treatment. It seems Evelyn Hugo is one of the last to receive the honor.
Hulu is developing Malibu Rising as a series with Amy Talkington writing and Tigelaar producing; One True Loves is getting a film adaptation starring Phillipa Soo, Simu Liu, and Luke Bracey. Meanwhile, Prime Video acquired Daisy Jones and the Six, with Riley Keough and Sam Claflin starring, and filming is already underway.
So we wait, hoping the powers that be hire Taylor Swift to record the soundtrack and knock this casting out of the park.
