‘And Just Like That…’ Renewed for Season 2 at HBO Max
And Just Like That…, from executive producer Michael Patrick King, alongside stars and executive producers Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, will return for a second season on HBO Max.
The Sex and the City revival delivered the strongest debut of any Max Original series to date with its ten-episode first season.
The series follows fan-favorite characters Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte on a new chapter “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

Kim Catrall was noticeably absent in the first season as Samantha Jones. But, other Sex and the City alums returned to play a part in the new chapter, like Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, and Evan Handler. Willie Garson, who has unfortunately since passed away, reprised his role of Stanford, too.
And Just Like That… expanded its cast with new characters played by Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Karen Pittman.
The series’ official social media accounts posted a video to celebrate the renewal news that suggests most cast members will return for Season 2. A new season could mean more familiar faces will pop up in Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda’s lives.

For example, in April of last year, news broke that John Corbett would reprise his role as Aidan Shaw in the HBO Max series. There are a few points throughout the season that Aidan could have appeared, like Big’s funeral, but Corbett was absent.
The story could have evolved so that it made more sense to hold off on Carrie’s (platonic or otherwise) reunion with Aidan. Maybe Season 2 will be the better time for their paths to cross again. Anything is possible!
Executive Producer Michael Patrick King is thrilled to continue telling the stories on this show. “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters – played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back,” King said.
Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max, echoed King’s sentiments in a statement about And Just Like That…‘s renewal.

“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast, and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for Season 2!” Aubrey said.
The series’ first season certainly stirred up some lively conversations on social media, and it appears as though HBO Max wants to keep that momentum heading into its second season.
And Just Like That…‘s executive producers includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, John Melfi, and Michael Patrick King. Its writers included King, Samantha Irby, Rachna Fruchbom, Keli Goff, Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky. Its directors included King, Gillian Robespierre, Cynthia Nixon, Anu Valia, and Nisha Ganatra.
The HBO series Sex and the City was created by Darren Star and based on the book Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell.
