Suspicion Review: What Does A Kidnapper Look Like? (Season 1 Episode 5)
On Suspicion Season 1 Episode 5, “What Does a Kidnapper Look Like?,” our group of suspects hide out together and finally start talking to each other about why they were in New York and their history with Cooper Newman. There’s a lot to catch each other up on, and we learn some new tidbits in the process.
There’s no nicer way to say it, but their alone time in that house is boring.
After the insane events of Suspicion Season 1 Episode 4, “The Devil You Know,” this shift to a much quieter episode is jarring. We got from all this action and excitement to all of them sitting around and chatting.

There’s just this feeling of unease hovering over all of them. When the neighbor starts poking around, at least we get some edge-of-your-seat type tension, which is a welcomed change of pace.
It’s not all a waste though. We learn a bit more about what they didn’t tell the police — because, shocker, they are all still lying about something — and we get more of a working theory as to who is behind it all. But there’s nothing huge uncovered.
We need a bit more time to process this theory that they came up with because while some names are recognizable, we don’t really know enough about Cooper Newman yet. We haven’t spent time with those characters to get a sense of them or better understand their roles at the company.

So, it’s hard to weigh in on whether or not their theory has any merit. It wouldn’t surprise me if someone at Cooper Newman had a hand in the kidnapping, but we need to know more.
Thankfully, our suspects are making their way to America, so this might mean that we get to learn more about Katherine and her Cooper Newman co-workers.
The main thing we learn from Suspicion Season 1 Episode 5 is that Sean and Tara really should’ve continued their interrogations of Eddie. He’s hiding something.
My current theory is that Eddie’s not really a suspect at all, but rather a plant by either the UK police, FBI, or Cooper Newman. It would explain why his picture is pixelated — to protect his real identity — and why he is the one to initiate getting all the suspects together and talking.

He’s the reason why we know more than we did when we only had Scott and Vanessa’s investigation to rely on. I think there’s got to be more going on with Eddie rather than him just being a suspect. But that’s me. What’s your theory?
Stray Thoughts
- Do I want to know what it says about me that I’m kinda shipping Tara and Sean?
- I love that Aadesh’s approach to get clients is to hack them first. He didn’t start with a small company either.
- I want to know more about the organization Sean works for.
