How I Met Your Father Renewed for Season 2 at Hulu

There are more great chapters left in How I Met Your Father’s love story! Hulu has renewed the multi-cam sitcom for a supersized second season.

How I Met Your Father Season 1 consists of ten episodes, and Season 2 will double that for a 20-episode season. Since the first season isn’t over yet, this news bodes well for Hulu’s belief in the series’ longevity.

Of course, How I Met Your Mother’s nine seasons instills confidence that its spin-off could go the distance, too.

Besides the obvious connections and fun easter eggs, HIMYF shakes up the central perspective by following Hilary Duff’s Sophie during the next great chapter of her love story.

The iconic Kim Cattrall plays Sophie’s near future counterpart, who (similar to the original) tells her son the story of how she met his father.

Then, the story catapults us back to the present of 2022, where Sophie and her friends are figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

For Sophie, at the moment, that means dating the lovely principal, Drew, played by Josh Peck. Sophie’s friends are played by a wonderful cast of actors — Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley, and Tien Tran.

How I Met Your Father is written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Executive producers for How I Met Your Father include Aptaker, Berger, Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pam Fryman, and Adam Londy. Duff serves as a producer. How I Met Your Father is a production of 20th Television.
