Preview — Hawkeye: Christmas Comes Early to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Hawkeye, Previews

‘Tis the season for some holly, jolly, Hawkeye!

Kate Bishop and Clint Barton are certainly not the first superheroes to get the Disney+ spin-off series treatment, but they’re the first to do it in festive style.

It won’t be all gumdrops and lollipops for the world’s greatest archers this holiday season, however.

On vacation with his family in New York City, Clint finds a young girl prowling the streets as his alter-ego Ronin. Kate’s unfortunate choice in vigilante costumes unleashes a hoard of vengeful gangs on the two archers and places them at the center of an underground criminal operation.

A fact that doesn’t seem to upset Kate as she’s always dreamed of working alongside her favorite Avenger. On the other hand, Clint is not too keen on his new partner, and that reluctant bond will cause a few bumps and scrapes along the way.

The mini-series promises us street-level vigilantism of Daredevil, with all the fixings of explosive Die Hard action and scrappy Home Alone antics. It is one of the few Marvel properties to be heavily inspired by a specific comic run. As a result, the dialogue and action sequences are often ripped straight from the page.

The two will have only their arrows and their sharp wit as they team up to take on the Tracksuit Mafia, Echo, and perhaps a few more familiar-faced criminals lurking in the shadows.

Alongside introducing a Young Avenger, Hawkeye will also force Clint to face his survivor’s guilt when it manifests in the form of Yelena Belova. And did we mention Lucky the pizza dog will make an appearance or two?

Hawkeye hasn’t even premiered yet, and it is already the most exciting gift Marvel could give us this holiday season! So here’s hoping it can hit the mark.
