Wynonna Earp’s Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon Take Wizard World Chicago By Storm
Strange shows come giving us a glimpse into an alternate reality, and then they go taking a piece of our hearts with them. Such is the case of the wonderful series known as Wynonna Earp.
With only four seasons of whimsical writing and mind-bending fun, we had to say goodbye to our favorite characters in April 2021, but not without a signed petition begging for just one more season.
Several of Wynonna Earp’s top heartbroken fans showed up to Wizard World Chicago in a loving display of support to the actors Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon who affected their lives in ways untold. It was beyond obvious that the love was one hundred percent reciprocated.
As the actors took to the stage, Earpers lined up in front of a microphone to share their thoughts, questions, and praises of a show gone before its time.

The moderator of the panel opened up the discussion with a question about newer fans of the show and how Melanie Scrofano reacts to them. “I don’t know any people who are just moseying through Season 1 — they binge it. It is really fun to come to new cities.”
Tim Rozon agreed with her. “Yeah, one hundred percent. I’m excited because I know this is their first convention, and it is Earper related. The journey has just begun for them.”
He continued, “Meeting me is one thing, but meeting people you are in line with — that’s where it is at. It’s fabulous.”
It is then briefly mentioned that Tim Rozon and Melanie Scrofano have recently reunited on a show called SurrealEstate.
“Working together is always incredible. I hope we get to do more. I’m excited and hopeful — I think the show is great,” Rozon said. “I feel very fortunate.”
The next question centered on Scrofano’s directing on episodes of Wynonna Earp and then moving on to directing SurrealEstate. “The cast was not an issue at all. When I directed Wynonna, I knew the story and the crew, but when you come into a new show you don’t know the crew or the land you are shooting on,” she told the audience.
“It was a great experience, but I had just started,” she continued. Tim Rozon chimed in, “Those episodes were incredible.”
She went on to describe how she got interested in directing in the first place. “During Season 1 somebody came up to me and said, ‘So are you going to direct Season 3?’ There is where the seed got planted.”
“It felt like people were carrying me along the way. It was surreal,” Scrofano added. “I’m working on and now editing The Hardy Boys.”

The topic then moved on to where Scrofano drew inspiration from for her character. “I was standing in line behind someone at Starbucks — this woman was just rude. My eternal voice of how I was talking to her was Wynonna. She would have said it out loud, while I just moved over for her.”
Scrofano explained that Wynonna is “not afraid of what the consequences are. She just acts and thinks later.”
With all the interesting costumes on the show, the question eventually came up as to which one was Scrofano’s favorite. “I have the red dress hanging in my closet from Season 1. Many animals were harmed in the making of putting on that dress,” she joked.
“My son is a big fan of the show, and he is always asking me to put on the jacket. I can’t do it — I can’t do any of it,” Scrofano said.
Tim Rozon answered, “It was the hat. It is so comfortable, and it’s handmade. On the inside, it says ‘For Tim Rozon — Doc Holiday’. I put it on, and I just love it.”

Soon after, a crowd member asked Scrofano about a circulating rumor that she got the part of Wynonna while chewing gum during the audition. Scrofano admitted to breaking the cardinal rule.
“If you want to show a character, break a rule,” she said. “Wynonna wouldn’t have followed that rule. I felt like it was in keeping with the spirit of it,” Scrofano explained further.
The line of Earpers at the microphone began to dwindle before Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon asked for a group selfie with all their attending fans. A mass huddle of love and support gathered in front of the stage with enthusiastic smiles and undying devotion. There was no better way to close this special moment for the stars and fans alike.
