Rose McIver, the queen of spooky season shows, returns to our screens with Ghosts.
We’ve had an iZombie-sized hole in our hearts since the show ended in 2019. Now, McIver is back in a charming comedy that brightens up CBS’ latest slate of programming.
Ghosts Season 1 Episodes 1 & 2, “Pilot/Hello!” follow Samantha (McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) as they embark on a journey that will have everlasting impacts on their lives and the afterlife.
A mission to transform a rundown building into the next big B&B becomes a way to connect with a vibrant group of ghosts who call the country estate home.
The charming twist to this comedy is that Samantha is the only person who can communicate with the spirits because she is the only one who can see and hear them.
Samantha and Jay thought that starting a business would be a big feat for just the two of them. But, now they have to consider the opinions of a group of ghosts — one of which is Samantha’s ancestor.
We think Samantha and Jay should rebrand their B&B as a friendly version of the Haunted Mansion. We know we would stay there!

“Pilot/Hello!” Episode description: Samantha and Jay throw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to convert a rundown country estate they inherited into a bed and breakfast – only to find it’s inhabited by the many opinionated spirits of deceased residents who now call it home.
The departed souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer; a pompous 1700s militiaman; a ‘60s hippie fond of hallucinogens; an overly upbeat ‘80s scout troop leader; a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009; a slick ‘90s finance bro; a sarcastic and witty native from the 1500s; and a society woman and wife of an 1800s robber baron who is Samantha’s ancestor, to name a few. If the spirits were anxious about the commotion a renovation and B&B will create in their home, it’s nothing compared to when they realize Samantha is the first live person who can see and hear them.
