Only Murders in the Building Review: The Boy from 6B (Season 1 Episode 7)
We get a lot of answers on Only Murders in the Building Season 1 Episode 7, “The Boy from 6B,” and honestly, it is a lot to process. And, of course, we’re still left with a ton of questions.
It’s an interesting move to have Charles, Oliver, and Mabel take the backseat on this episode. The focus instead is on Theo and Teddy, explaining their connection to Zoe’s death and revealing that they’re graverobbers.
It would have been more enjoyable to stick with Charles, Oliver, and Mabel as they made these big breakthroughs in the case. They are our main characters, after all, and the three of them are one of the reasons why we keep tuning in, episode after episode.

However, it’s understandable why Only Murders in the Building shifts our focus to Teddy and Theo: there’s more suspense. Now, we’re not only invested in finding out the truth, but we’re worried for Oliver, Charles, and Mabel’s safety.
I’m still curious how Oliver and Mabel ended up tied up in Theo’s van. It was two against one, and Theo didn’t appear to be armed. Mabel could’ve taken him with a knitting needle. Hopefully, Only Murders in the Building Season 1 Episode 8, “Fan Fiction,” reveals that he was armed or something otherwise this capture is a bit unrealistic.
The changing up of voiceovers every episode is one aspect of the show that I can’t quite figure out how I feel about it. Theo’s voiceover allows the show to give us a bit more of a silent episode, which does help add to the suspense, but it’s still having us follow around someone we don’t really know or care about.

In Season 2, let’s hope that Only Murders in the Building scales back on following around random people for an episode and focuses more on our core trio: Mabel, Charles, and Oliver. The changing of voiceovers is a nod to how podcasts are set up, but the show would benefit from doing away with it.
While we know Theo is behind Zoe’s death, we still don’t know the big question of the series– who killed Tim Kono. Teddy and Theo are not good people, but we never actually find proof that they killed Tim.
It doesn’t look good that Tim was investigating them and then he suddenly died, but it’s not like Tim didn’t have an abundance of people who hated him. Do you think they are behind Tim’s death or is there another bad guy afoot?

There is still the matter of Oliver and Charles finding Mabel over a dead body on Only Murders in the Building Season 1 Episode 1, “True Crime,” to solve, and we know that Cinda Canning winds up doing a podcast on the three of them, so there’s got to be something big happening on “Fan Fiction.”
