Aimee Garcia Previews ‘Lucifer’ Season 6 [Interview]

Interviews, Lucifer

It truly feels like the end of an era.

Lucifer airs its final season this Friday on Netflix, and according to cast member Aimee Garcia, who plays Ella Lopez, the final season may just be the best one.

I recently spoke with Garcia about what we can expect from the final season of the beloved series and why she’s especially proud to have been a part of it.

“I think we left everything on the table,” Garcia said. “I mean the writing has always been good, but there’s something about really finalizing where these characters end up.”

“You’ll get to see these characters in ways you’ve never seen them before, because it’s the end. So I feel like there’s no saving things for another time. There’s no not putting that in because it will affect the story in the future. There’s something about when it’s the final chapter of a great story, you just let it rip.”

Lucifer’s Season 5 cancellation was reversed at the last minute, which makes Season 6 feel like even more of a gift.  Garcia admitted to binge-watching the entire final season until 3:00am, and without giving anything away, she shared some of the things she loved about it most — and why she’s grateful for the sixth season.

“It’s got really great Deckerstar moments. I can’t imagine not having a Season 6 and not having those Deckerstar moments. We get to see Chloe in a way we’ve never seen before, which is really fun. We get to see Dan in a way we’ve never seen before,” she said.

“I loved the show before I came on the show, because I was a late addition,” Garcia continued. “I just think there’s something really romantic about our show. It’s people that are just trying to figure stuff out.”

“Whether you’re a demon, or an angel, or a celestial, or a human, who can’t relate to having self doubt? And who can’t relate to unrequited love, and who can’t relate to feeling lost and abandoned by someone you thought had your back?”

Garcia also gushed over the performances given by the cast, the writing, and all the emotion that comes with it in the final season.

“I think it’s the best season because it’s for the fans. I always say that our fans are our extra series regular. They’ve been there since the beginning. We’re here because of them.”

*As a side note, this was just the first part of our conversation! Part 2 contains spoilers and will be posted after the final season airs.

Lucifer Season 6 premieres Friday, September 10th on Netflix.
