‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ in Negotiations for Return on Roku
  • Belt out your heart song, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is back! Don’t go all Broadway diva just yet though, there’s a twist.
  • TVLine reports, the canceled NBC series is in talks with Roku to return for a wrap up movie. If the movie is successful enough, it could lead to more episodes of the musical.
  • Neither the show’s production company Lionsgate or Roku commented to TVLine, however showrunner Austin Winsberg made it known he wasn’t giving up on the series.
  • “I believe we can have a real chance somewhere else,” he wrote on Twitter following the cancellation.
  • Roku is currently negotiating with cast members, with an eye on a holiday premiere.
  • Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is available on Peacock.

Netflix Sets ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 for 2022
  • For fans of Stranger Things, it’s been a long wait for Season 4. Unfortunately, it’s going to get a little longer, because Netflix has announced the show will return in 2022, per EW.
  • The news was accompanied by a teaser with new footage from the upcoming season.
  • The clip features a montage of season three’s best moments, as well as Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven whispering “it’s coming,” and “it’s almost here.”
  • When we left off ages ago, David Harbour’s Jim Hopper had seemingly died, but previous teasers quickly showed him alive and in captivity in Russia.
  • Among season four’s new cast members is horror legend Robert Englund as a very scary mental patient.
  • Stranger Things is now streaming on Netflix.

Amazon Releases ‘Lord of the Rings’ Premiere Date
  • The Fellowship can begin preparing. Amazon announced the premiere date of its highly-anticipated The Lord of the Rings series.
  • Deadline reports, the drama is set to debut on Sept. 2, 2022, so there is a bit of a wait.
  • Taking place thousands of years before the films and novels, the series is set during the Second Age of Middle Earth. “Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.”
  • Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani lead the cast that recently wrapped filming in New Zealand.
  • The Lord of the Rings premieres on Sept. 2, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video. In the meantime, The Lord of the Rings film trilogy is currently streaming on Hulu.

Ron Cephas Jones, Vinnie Jones Join ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Season 2
  • As Law & Order: Organized Crime moves away from the Wheatleys, and sets its Season 2 arc, the procedural has added some big names to the cast.
  • Deadline reports, Emmy winner Ron Cephas Jones will join the show as Congressman Leon Kilbride, “a born politician who fosters connections and always plays his cards right.”
  • Action movie favorite Vinnie Jones is set as Albi Briscu, “an Eastern European gangster who is the last remaining member of the organization from the old country.”
  • Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 1 ended with Stabler and Bell finally taking down Richard Wheatley’s empire, while Eliot and Liv are slowly confronting their feelings for each other.
  • Law & Order: Organized Crime is streaming on Peacock.

‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Renewed for Season 2
  • Disney+ continues to explore new corners of the Star Wars universe, as it has renewed animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch for Season 2, per StarWars.com.
  • “The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney+ and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch,” said executive producer Dave Filoni.
  • A spinoff of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch follows experimental Clone Force 99 aka the Bad Batch.
  • “Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+,” said Michael Paull, president of Disney+ and ESPN+. “As the dedicated streaming home for the Star Wars franchise, we can’t wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series.”

‘The Great’ Season 2 to Premiere in November
  • TV’s funniest royals are back, as Hulu’s The Great Season 2 will premiere Friday, Nov. 19, per TVLine.
  • Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult return as Catherine and Peter find themselves hilariously locked in a war for the throne.
  • At one point in the teaser, Peter thinks she should stop her coup so they can have sex. Of course, Catherine defiantly declares she’d “rather choke to death on this tiny chicken.”
  • TV vet Gillian Anderson will join Season 2 as Catherine’s mother.
  • The Great is now streaming on Hulu, with Season 2 premiering Friday, Nov. 19.
