Dynasty Review: Go Rescue Someone Else (Season 4 Episode 13)

Dynasty, Reviews

The fate of a loved one is revealed on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 13, “Go Rescue Someone Else.”

After two weeks of semi-decent episodes, Dynasty snaps back with “Go Rescue Someone Else,” an action-packed, keep you on the edge of your seat, tear-jerker. While some may have been aware of who wasn’t dying, it doesn’t change the suspense felt as five characters are teased to meet their maker.

For fans of the original Dynasty series, Anders’ death may not come as much of a shock. On the original show in 1981, Anders dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Season 4. But for many, like myself, it’s a blow to the heart and a twist not seen coming.

Anders has been loyal to the Carrington family for most of his life, enduring prison, broken limbs, and risking death to keep them out of trouble. His character arc throughout the episode is a heroic one as he saves the day in the end via a bomb.

Allowing Anders to end his time with the Carrington’s in such a manner is a beautiful moment. His love for Fallon knows no bounds, so getting to help her save Liam and be a hero in her eyes once more is delightful.

However, Anders’ death scene feels too forced and very minute for the reputation of the character. Instead of dying via car crash in a matter of seconds, his demise should have been with Fallon. Anders’ death would be much more satisfying, and hit harder, if done while saving Liam.

Anders’ death isn’t a respectable one, especially after saving Liam and Fallon from death. His death would be much more gratifying if he took a bullet saving the both of them.

If his death was spotlighting a vital issue such as texting while driving, I could see the death scene fitting, but it’s not. On a show that is wildly dramatic and, most times, non-realistic, his death shouldn’t have been any different. It’s entirely too quick of a situation and does not give a fitting goodbye to such a well-loved character.

The storyline of “Go Rescue Someone Else,” on the other hand, is magnificent and strategically played out. Fans are left wondering who could possibly be the character in the casket as the viewpoint pops between each dangerous setting.

Kirby is seen on “A Public Forum for Her Lies,” being kicked out of the manor by Anders in an attempt to get her clean. Instead, his worst nightmare comes true, and the old Kirby comes out to play, unbeknownst to anyone in the manor.

Kirby’s actions land her in horrific situations, most of the time, and this time she’s hit rock bottom. Oliver has, once again, ruined her sobriety and forced her off the wagon, leaving her to die like the pathetic waste of space that he is.

There’s no doubt that Kirby will make a full recovery thanks to the help from her friends, but she deserves justice. Not only is Alexis responsible for ruining her relationship with her father, but she’s also the reason why she misses his funeral. Alexis is the cause of it all, and I hope that Kirby sees the day where she gets revenge.

At this moment, it seems as if nobody knows what to do with Kirby’s character or where she’s going down the road. Her storyline is inconsistent and hasn’t had a clear destination for quite some time. Hopefully, after her drug addict storyline is wrapped up, she can move on to something bigger and better. She’s always getting the short end of the stick.

While I sometimes have issues with Fallon and her ability to obsesses over herself, I love that in the end, she always shows up for those she loves. Without her dying love for Liam and ability to read through subtle context clues, Liam could have been the one having a funeral.

“Go Rescue Someone Else” is one of the best episodes to air, so far, during Season 4. Hopefully, the momentum keeps going for future episodes.

Other Thoughts:

  • Sam and Culhane’s storyline with the club renovation is getting quite dull. My investment in both of them is slowly dying away.
  • I’m slightly intrigued by the spaceship blueprints that Jeff is examining. But, why space? Is there not enough to conquer on earth? I feel a cheesy space storyline is incoming.
  • Liam better stick around for the next few episodes now that he’s back. Fallon needs her right-hand man back.
