Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist - Season 2 Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Canceled After Two Seasons

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Canceled After Two Seasons

News, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

It’s a sad day for fans of the musical comedy series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, which has been canceled after two seasons at NBC. But could there be hope for a rescue?

Showrunner Austin Winsberg previously told TV Line that he’d heard about discussions to move the series Peacock. The streaming service had reportedly been in negotiations to pick up Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for an abbreviated final season, but those discussions fell through.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was already missing from the Fall programming schedule, which was announced in May.

The series starred Jane Levy (who recently won our Tell-Tale TV Award for Favorite Actress in a Network Comedy Series), Skylar Astin, John Clarence Stewart, Alex Newell, Mary Steenburgen, Andrew Leeds, Alice Lee, Michael Thomas Grant, and Kapil Talwalkar. (Lauren Graham exited the series early in Season 2).

The cancellation now leaves the audience with a major cliffhanger, as the Season 2 finale ended with a twist involving Skylar Astin’s Max

That is, unless another network opts to rescue the show. According to Variety, a spokesperson for Lionsgate Television stated the following, confirming that there are plans to try finding another home for the series:

“In a world where finding loyal and passionate audiences is never easy, we believe there must be a home for this great, award-winning show with a passionate and dedicated following.”

Updated: Austin Winsberg also posted a Tweet asking for fan support, stating he refuses “to believe the show is dead.” He also wrote that fans should use the hashtag: #saveZoeysPlaylist to show support.

So, perhaps there’s still some hope! How are you feeling about the news? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
