Legacies Review: You Can’t Run From Who You Are (Season 3 Episode 11)

Legacies, Reviews

Hope gets herself into trouble on Legacies Season 3 Episode 11, “You Can’t Run From Who You Are,” when she astral projects into the prison world. Meanwhile, Alaric, Cleo, and Kaleb visit the original triad headquarters to gather knowledge.

The backstory reveal for Finch is arguably the best thing about this episode. It’s been clear that there’s something off with Finch, but I hadn’t quite put my finger on it until her werewolf reveal in last week’s episode. It makes sense that Josie would attempt to live a human life and immediately find a supernatural lover instead.

Lizzie is right to be cautious of Finch, but her hatred towards Finch is entirely unwarranted. Finch hasn’t given a reason to believe that she’s a villain or any kind of bad person, but because she’s a wolf and interested in her sister, she’s automatically evil. She has a hot head, and while it may come in handy occasionally, she still needs to work on it and her judgment skills.

Finch is a strong woman who has had to endure quite a bit in her life, and while Lizzie’s actions were questionable, it still gives her the chance to find out the truth about herself. Finch has had questions her entire life about why and how she became a werewolf, and now that she’s had them answered, it’ll be interesting to see her next moves.

I don’t think that Finch would ever willingly move to the Salvatore School, but I think she would be a great addition to the team. At this point, Finch and Cleo are the two characters that keep me coming back for more because of their exciting storylines.

Josie has been fighting her true lifestyle, magic, since getting rid of the dark magic inside of her, but it’s exciting to see her finally embrace it again. I realize that Josie has been going through an early midlife crisis, but magic is where she belongs, and it’s about time she’s finally come to the realization.

The dark side inside of her is something that she’s going to have to fight for the rest of her life, but getting rid of her magic is not the correct answer. Josie is one of the most powerful witches that the Salvatore School has, and I feel like, before the end of the season, they’re going to need her and her powers to save the day, besides her saving Hope on this week’s episode.

Ethan’s storyline is getting real boring real quick. At first, the little side-kick duo he and MG have going on was a fun moment, but it’s getting real old quickly with Ethan. He’s gone from this high schooler who had motivation and goals for his life, but now he’s worried about missing school to fight bad guys that he can’t even fight.

At this point, I think that MG compelling Ethan would be a good thing because he’s proving more and more that he doesn’t have the ability not to lose his mind with the information about the supernatural. The vigilante mind frame is making him lose his critical thinking skills. After all, now he’s been beaten to a pulp because he thought he could stop a robbery, or some altercation, by himself.

“You Can’t Run From Who You Are” is an action-packed episode that sets the back end of Season 3 up well and genuinely makes me want to see what comes next, especially with Finch and Josie.

Other Thoughts:

  • I hope we see Finch and Josie talk openly with one another soon because I need them to be the new power couple.
  • Cleo’s power has to come from powerful emotions because when Hope mentions his weak game, Cleo’s eyes flash brightly as if something inside of her had been touched.
  • Wade’s revelation about Landon poses an important question: is this the real Landon? Is there something dark inside of him now that he’s spent all that time in Malivore?

Favorite Quotes:

  • “Long enough to know you’ve been playing dress up with a muggle.” – Lizzie
  • “You and Josie are twins, right? Because you’re the evil one.” – Finch
  • “Is it weird that I still find her attractive?” – Landon
