Dynasty Review: Everybody Loves the Carringtons (Season 4 Episode 4)

Dynasty, Reviews

Fallon gets caught in the crossfire of Alexis and Jeff’s petty war on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 4, “Everybody Loves the Carringtons.”

Amid an extensive interview to proclaim Fallon and Liam’s newfound power couple status with a top reporter, Fallon must navigate Alexis and Jeff’s in-house fighting. However, in typical Fallon Carrington fashion, it doesn’t take long for her to figure out how to get what she wants.

All it takes is a little elbow grease and one small hostage situation in the manor.

Jeff doesn’t want to be anywhere near his mother, so naturally, he doesn’t want to be in business with her, which is why in the end, he’s smart enough to work with Alexis. Sometimes it’s better to stop fighting and give in, which he does by giving Alexis the money to excavate the land.

He’s finally ridding his hands of anything involving the Carringtons and working on making his life what he wants.

As for Fallon, her getting the upper hand on Alexis and Dominique by buying the land around the manor is an intelligent move. It’s the perfect way to make sure that her mother and Dominique stay in check from now on, or else they’ll have to deal with a road blockage and no construction.

Sam and Ryan’s *relationship* begins on rocky terms with a drunken wedding in Las Vegas and ends with Sam having a brand new personal stalker who flies across the country to see him. Ryan comes up with a lie about his life to get closer to Sam, only for Sam to find out and then shove him away for a millimeter of a second before doing whatever he can to keep him close.

It’s awkward to watch Sam get flustered and spend all of this money on a man who makes it known that he doesn’t want it. Maybe it’s the fact that Ryan is across the country or that Ryan is one of the only guys to turn Sam down, but whatever it is, Sam is hooked on him and isn’t going to let down anytime soon.

It’s apparent that Sam only wants to be liked by Ryan and that he’s used to is showing his love by buying fancy or expensive things. When you’re around rich people who care about everything having a price attached to it, it’s hard to think about what someone humble or not from that life might want.

He’s not used to someone who doesn’t want money thrown at them at all times, even though it is weird for Ryan to be so against everything Sam wants to get him. Not the singing, though. The singing on facetime is ultra-cringe, and Sam gets ten points deducted from his boyfriend-o-meter for specifically not listening to what Ryan wants.

Cristal moving on from Blake is such a lovely thing because the entire family is toxic, and it’s about time that she took a break from it. Blake has proven time and time again that he is not going to change who he is, so she should take her happiness with the priest and run while she can.

Blake threatening a priest while inside of a church for a woman who has proclaimed her desire to leave the relationship proves just how unhinged he’s become.

Culhane has determination, motivation and strives to do his best when it comes to his job and his players, and that’s a good thing, but sometimes he doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into. Going after Deputy Commissioner Dawkins will not be an easily attainable feat, so it isn’t very intelligent for him to approach him one-on-one without any plan first.

If Culhane isn’t careful, he could end up getting into some deep trouble, trouble that could potentially ruin his life if the right people involved know what they’re doing. His head is in the right place, but there needs to be a brainstorming moment to develop the right plan.

Hopefully, on Season 4 Episode 5, “New Hopes, New Beginnings,” we will see Anders resume his investigation into figuring out how to take Adam down once and for all.

Favorite Quotes:

  • “I know you, Fallon. We can move ten thousand miles away, but you’ll still be connected to this family. Your mother behaving like a child, that’s on her. But you, being the mature one, that’s on you. Moving away won’t solve anything.” – Liam.
  • “Meaning, if you act like a child again, the only diamonds you’ll ever see are when you’re playing Texas Hold ’em. I have been the collateral damage of my family’s poor choices my entire life, but that ends now.” – Fallon.
  • “Look, I know I went a little crazy with the gifts and… the backstreet boy. I think I was just afraid that just me on screen wouldn’t be enough to keep you interested. But I think what you’re looking for, or what I hope you’re looking for, is just me.” – Sam.
