‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 Trailer and Premiere Date Revealed
While most spring Apple Events are designed to help the company feature new technology and updates to their line of “iProducts”, AppleTV+ fans were treated to a first look at the Ted Lasso Season 2 trailer, and the reveal of the season’s official premiere date!
Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis as the titular character (enter Lady Bird gif), debuted the summer of 2020 to critical acclaim but didn’t fully infiltrate the ranks of pop culture until awards season hit. Sudeikis became an accidental awards show star, taking the WFH-friendly dress code seriously.
The series was awarded a second season just days after its premiere, and it has been announced that Season 2 will officially drop July 23, 2021. Is it a coincidence that that is the same day the Summer Olympics are set to begin? I think not!

The comedy, following an American football coach thrust into the world of European football and the ultra-competitive stakes of the European Premier League, was nominated for numerous awards at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics Choice Television Awards, winning at least one at each.
When we left Coach Lasso and Co. at the end of Ted Lasso Season 1, the AFC Richmond squad had just missed the Premier League’s relegation cutoff, dropping them down to the Championship League.
Ted Lasso Season 2 picks up as the team begins their comeback, finally having settled in a groove as a squad and having warmed up to their new coaching staff. Ted’s exuberant, sometimes excessive, positivity made the show so easy to fall in love with and seems just as prevalent in the upcoming season.
Elsewhere, our new Ted Lasso Season 2 trailer hints at more romance in Keeley’s and Roy’s future, a new beau for girlboss Rebecca, more responsibility for newly minted Coach Nate, and Coach Beard doing Coach Beard things. And for those of us that have watched the trailer more than once, maybe a tease of Jamie Tart?
Ted Lasso Season 2 stars Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, with Sarah Niles joining the ensemble.
