“Honestly, it just feels so wonderful that people love the show,” she said.

“My biggest regret is that I can’t be with the people who made it because they are my family, and you know, the loves of my life, and it would be so nice to be able to hug everybody. But it’s just a privilege and it’s a joy. I feel so, so lucky.”

Taylor-Joy also noted the fun of dressing up in her own home and offered some insight into the biggest challenge of playing Beth Harmon on The Queen’s Gambit.

“The biggest challenge was also the greatest gift, truly. Which is I act usually from a place of empathy, and so I treat the character as if they’re my best friend, or sister, or roommate –you know, someone that I live very close with that I make a real effort to make them walk differently, talk differently, laugh, cry differently, and from the second I read Beth in the book I realized that in order to tell the story truthfully I had to give up a lot more of myself, and I had to let that be seen.”
