Beth’s mother makes her triumphant return to This Is Us just in time for another awkward Pearson dinner.
These cringe-worthy family gatherings have become a staple of the series and This Is Us Season 5 Episode 10, “I’ve Got This,” looks to continue the saga with Carol and Beth having a full-on disagreement at the dinner table about parenting styles.
And if you’re wondering how a dinner overrun with several angsty teens, two super-parents, and a school principal could get any worse, you should know Malik is also present for the occasion.
Beth and Randall aren’t the only ones trying to make the best of their family’s situation during this pandemic fatigue. The newly-minted Pearson parents are also attempting a small get-together.
Kate and Kevin hosting their family’s first playdate is sure to be adorable for all parties involved, but it will be particularly great to see both couples interact with other people in person for once.
The ensemble scenes have reasonably been absent from this season, and I’m glad to get back to that dynamic in whatever way we can.
Family affairs aside, This Is Us also looks to be challenging Chris Evans’ Knive’s Out sweater supremacy with all the comfy numbers Randall and Toby are sporting this episode. I respect this series for recognizing white cable knit sweaters can elevate any story.
