Preview — Superman & Lois Season 1 Episode 5: The Best of Smallville
Clark hopes that his family will give Smallville another chance as they attend the town’s Harvest Festival on Superman & Lois Season 1 Episode 5, “The Best of Smallville.” The promo video shows that Jonathan Kent could be the one who needs the most convincing.
This tracks with what we’ve seen from Jonathan so far, as he’s been nothing but considerate of everyone else’s feelings and plans. Jonathan gave up a lot to move to Smallville, and it’s only fair that he voices some of his concerns at some point.
This is the first Harvest Festival since Martha Kent’s passing, and her absence is felt. Clark is still trying to work through the tragedy of losing his mother. It seems as though he will learn a lesson during “The Best of Smallville” that will help him do so.
It’s hard to tell if this lesson will come before or after the series’ antagonists get involved. The episode description addresses the fact that Lois is making strides in Morgan Edge’s investigation, while the promo video reveals the twist that Captain Luthor is in Smallville.
Lois Lane has never been one to back down when shown signs of trouble. Sometimes that only pulls her deeper into a story. It wouldn’t be shocking if that were the case on “The Best of Smallville.”
It’s exciting to think we may get to see the iconic couple team up again, like on Superman & Lois Season 1 Episode 3, “The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower.”

Episode description: As Smallville celebrates its first Harvest Festival since Martha’s passing, Clark is reminded what his mother meant to him and learns a lesson that will help him move past her death. Meanwhile, Lois makes a breakthrough in the investigation of Morgan Edge.
Lastly, Kyle tries to reconnect with Lana, but it seems like he might be falling back into his old ways.
