Killing Eve to End With Season 4; Potential Spinoffs in the Works
Eve Polastri and Villanelle’s game of cat and mouse is coming to an end. AMC announced on Tuesday that Killing Eve‘s fourth season will be the last. AMC is working on expanding the universe to include a number of potential spinoff ideas.
“Killing Eve exploded in popular culture and attracted a dedicated and committed fan base from its very first episode. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brilliant adaptation of the source material, the unforgettable characters given life by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and the entire cast, along with our partners at Sid Gentle Films, have delivered a one-of-a-kind roller-coaster ride that has taken our breath away,” said Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks, in a press release.”
“We could not be more thankful for the extraordinary talents and efforts of everyone involved, particularly Sandra and Jodie, who made Killing Eve much more than a television show. We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe.”

The two stars of the critically-acclaimed thriller also released statements about the upcoming farewell season.
“Killing Eve has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” said Sandra Oh, who plays Eve Polastri in a statement. “I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”
“Killing Eve has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for. Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember,” said Jodie Comer, who plays Villanelle.

This may not be a final goodbye for the series. The cabler also announced that it’s working with Sid Gentle Films Ltd. to develop a number of potential spinoff ideas that will extend the show’s universe. There is no word on what, or who, these potential spinoff ideas might follow.
The eight-episode final season is set to begin production this summer. This season continues the tradition of bringing a new lead writer on to helm the story. Laura Neal (Sex Education, Secret Diary of a Call Girl) is set to take the reigns or the farewell season, following in the footsteps of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Season 1), Emerald Fennell (Season 2), and Suzanne Heathcote (Season 3).
Production on Season 4 was delayed in July 2020 due to travel restrictions.

Killing Eve earned numerous awards including a Television Critics Association Award and a British Academy Television Award. It also won a Peabody award in 2019. Comer and Oh also earned numerous accolades for their performances. Oh has taken home a Golden Globe, SAG and Critics’ Choice Award, and Comer has received an Emmy and a BAFTA. Fiona Shaw and Kim Bodnia have also received BAFTAs for their roles in Killing Eve.
