We’re getting one step closer to solving the mystery of Riverdale‘s menacing videotape auteur and some of our heroes aren’t handling it too well.

On Riverdale Season 5 Episode 2, “Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders,” Archie appears to be falling apart.

With graduation only a couple of weeks away, no clear path, his secret break up with Veronica, and a new videotape featuring a recreation of one of the most traumatic moments of his life, it’s pretty easy to see exactly why Archie seems so unhinged in the promo for “Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders.”

When it comes down to it though, I still believe Archie will ultimately make the choices that would’ve made his father proud.

This episode also features guest appearances from Sean Depner as the ever chaotic Bret, and Mishel Prada as Veronica’s half-sister, Hermosa.

Could Bret help Betty and Jughead solve the videotape mystery? Do you think that the auteur has finally committed one of the video’s depicted murders? Will we find Blue Velvet David dead or alive?

Last season, Hermosa seemed to be a villain right up until the end when she actually went to bat for Veronica and helped the team solve Jughead’s would-be murder. Can we actually trust Hermosa to help Veronica once again?

This episode was written by Janine Salinas Schoenberg and Devon Turner and directed by Gabriel Correa. The title, “Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders,” refers to a made for TV movie called “The Preppie Murder” that re-created the murder of Jennifer Levin by “the preppie killer” Robert Chambers.
