A seven-year time jump stands on the horizon of Riverdale‘s future, but first, our heroes have a prom to attend, a senior year to finish, and a mystery to solve.
Riverdale Season 5 Episode 1, “Chapter Seventy-Seven: Climax,” brings us to Betty, Jughead, Archie, and Veronica’s senior prom. As a refresher, when we left the core four they were amidst college applications, complicated romantic entanglements, and increasingly menacing stalker videos from an unknown source.
On the Riverdale Season 4 finale, Jughead toyed with writing the death of their infuriating principal Mr. Honey for a college application essay, then he and Betty received a video depicting the murder he’d written. On “Chapter Seventy-Seven: Climax,” we can hope to get one step closer to figuring out who’s sending these terrifying videos and what exactly their intent is.
This episode was written by Ace Hasan and Greg Murray, and directed by Pamela Romanowsky. “Chapter Seventy-Seven: Climax” opens the season by jumping right back into the unfinished stories of Season 4.
