Preview — American Gods Season 3 Episode 1: A Winter’s Tale
If you’ve been waiting for the return of American Gods, your prayers are answered. After a lengthy hiatus, the show returns for its third season on Sunday, January 10.
Based on the best-selling novel by Neil Gaiman, the third season will explore the Lakeside storyline which finds Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) involved in a small town’s dark mystery while on his own spiritual journey.
This comes after last season’s revelation that Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) is, in fact, Shadow’s father. The war between the Old and New Gods still wages on this season, but Shadow decides to set out on his own.
While many cast members are returning, including Yetide Badaki (Bilquis) and Bruce Langley (Technical Boy), fans can expect a few changes.
In a public letter last year, Gaiman confirmed that the show will be keeping closer to its source material this season. The show also added a new showrunner, Charles “Chic” Eglee.
There will be new additions in front of the camera as well. Of note, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) joins as a leprechaun character named Liam Doyle, and Ashley Reyes joins as series regular Cordelia, an employee of Mr. Wednesday.
