New Superman & Lois Trailer Confirms Two-Hour Premiere Event
Superman & Lois lands on The CW in just over a month, and a new trailer for the series gives us a first look at what to expect when Clark and Lois return to Smallville. The trailer also confirms that the series will have a two-hour premiere event, as initially reported by Deadline.
Superman & Lois will have a 90-minute premiere, followed by a half-hour special titled Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope. This special will include sneak peeks and interviews with the cast.
The special will also feature special guests who’ll discuss the legacy of Superman. One can assume since Superman & Lois will air on The CW that there is a possibility Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent but never Superman by name on The WB’s Smallville, may pop up.
Welling’s appearance on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 9, “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One,” makes this feel even more possible.

It’s bizarre that the special’s premise doesn’t directly promise a similar retrospective dedicated to the other character the new series is named after. It only makes sense that the special should interview people about the significance of Lois Lane through the years as well.
After appearing in multiple crossovers in the Arrowverse, the titular couple — played by Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch — will be able to shine on their own show. Entertainment Weekly exclusively debuted the latest trailer for the series, which features all-new footage.
The series’ first teaser gave us a closer look at Superman’s new suit, but, unfortunately, didn’t give an equal focus on Lois. This trailer doesn’t do much better as far as the latter’s concerned.
It does, however, let us see Clark and Lois in a new way. They’re no longer parents of a bouncing baby boy but two teenage boys with their own personal struggles. It appears the couple’s sons, Jonathan and Jordan, discover Clark’s secret identity. Because why not add “Dad’s a superhero” to a list of reasons to be anxious?

Not only that, their once stable and influential jobs at the iconic Daily Planet are no more, proving even the massive media industry is facing hardships.
Hoechlin and Tulloch have proven themselves to be a fine comedic pair. Hopefully, Superman & Lois can find a balance that makes room for those moments, as this new trailer hints at a darker tone than some may have expected.
The trailer also features first looks at Emmanuelle Chriqui as Clark’s high-school sweetheart Lana Lang and Dylan Walsh as Lois’ father General Sam Lane.
Series description: After years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent, and comic books’ most famous journalist, Lois Lane, come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever — dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.
Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan and Jordan could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang, a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark’s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing. The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah.
Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, General Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois’ return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger enters their lives.
Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman & Lois is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns. The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
