Preview — The Good Doctor Season 4 Episode 3: Newbies
The Good Doctor Season 4 Episode 3, “Newbies,” will bring forth a whole new dynamic that fans will see in the rest of the season as they move past COVID-19 into a world where it’s no longer an issue.
Executive producer David Shore explains that continuing the COVID-19 storylines for the whole season would overshadow all the other stories they could tell. However, he makes it known that this is not an endorsement to the public to stop wearing masks.
Freddie Highmore will make a statement before upcoming episodes stating that the story is set in a post-COVID world and represents their hope for the future.
“Newbies” will be the first episode to introduce this season’s new characters, such as Dr. Asher Wolke (Noah Galvin), Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Samoné), Dr. Enrique Guerin (Brian Marc), and Dr. Olivia Jackson (Summer Brown).
“Newbies” was written by Thomas L. Moran and David Renaud. David Straiton directed the episode.

Episode description: With several candidates vying for residency at St. Bonaventure, Chief of Surgery Dr. Audrey Lim tasks Dr. Shaun Murphy, Dr. Claire Browne and Dr. Alex Park with mentoring the top first-year resident contenders. As their mentees shadow them for the day, Shaun and Park meet with Andrews to discuss a difficult surgery scheduled for a minor. Later, Shaun inadvertently insults Lea while discussing the pros and cons of the controversial surgery. And elsewhere, Dr. Morgan Reznick seeks out Claire and Lim’s help on a consult.
