Preview — Fargo Season 4 Episode 5: The Birthplace of Civilization
It’s Josto’s turn to make some moves on Fargo Season 4 Episode 5, “The Birthplace of Civilization.”
On Fargo Season 4 Episode 4, “The Pretend War,” Josto told Otis, his man on the police force, to lean on the Cannons and remind Loy exactly what they are up against when they confront the Faddas. It looks like Otis does just that by arresting Loy’s son.
The question is will this move scare the Cannons into backing off for a time or just provoke them into going after the Faddas harder.
Odds are it’s the latter. Loy doesn’t seem like one to back down from a threat so this might not work out the way Josto thinks it will in the long run.
Josto’s move might also be a bit of good luck for the Smutny’s who unwittingly find themselves in Loy’s crosshairs after he realizes the money Thurman tried to pay his loan back with is money stolen from Loy himself and he did not seem happy about it.
Dealing with Josto and his son’s arrest might make the Smutny’s less of a priority, for a time anyway. Enough time it seems, according to the episode description, for Ethelrida to do the right thing, which sounds pretty ominous given her discovery of Oraetta’s murder closet.
What could “doing the right thing” mean given the limited information she has about what she saw? Is the right thing that Ethelrida does even related to Oraetta? Can the Smutny’s catch a break?
