The 100: Here’s What Fans Have to Say About Why Bellamy Blake is So Special
The 100‘s final season is one that, so far, has forgotten who Bellamy Blake is, not just by character, but also by presence.
But no matter how the show forgets him, the fandom will always remember him — in life, in absence, in transcendence, and in death.
Bellamy Blake is special for a reason — not only is he a leading man of color, but Bellamy Blake breaks all types of stereotypes, fighting against toxic masculinity, as Bellamy is uniquely vulnerable and uniquely impactful.

Maybe The 100 wants viewers to focus on other characters in its final season. Jason Rothenberg told E! that Bob Morley decided to take some time off this season, but The 100 also gives the characters no room to mourn Bellamy, grieve him, or accurately remember him, for that matter.
Any mention of him is to catapult characters into the next unrelated plot move, or moves to push characters to extremes, also to explore the new world of Bardo hastily with more expediency.

Despite all of this, the most prevalent question asked by the fans for the first ten episodes of the season was: Where is Bellamy Blake?
The question asked for the next two episodes were: Why would they choose to do this to Bellamy?
That’s a good question. It is perhaps one that The 100 wishes the fandom wouldn’t focus on.
However, the writing is on the wall, and fear seeps into the fandom as they wait for a highly hypothesized death. So, why is Bellamy such a big deal? What makes Bellamy so special to fans?
Here’s what some of them had to say:
His Heart
The way he loves and uses his heart. Everyone would say is just too easy but it isn't, he is just a really good person with the biggest heart and I love him for that. Heart of gold with a badass touch, he doesn't buy anyone shit that easy. He is ready for defend

The way he surpassed the traditional (incorrect) male stereotypes that tv often forces on us all that men shouldn’t show emotion and speak from their heart. Bellamy felt everything so deeply and wasn’t afraid to show it and lead with his heart. ❤️❤️

His Vulnerability
Oh god why am I already tearing up? His vulnerability and complexity. He’s one of the best male characters I’ve ever seen and I’m so 100% putting that down to Aaron and kass morgan.

He's ability to be vulnerable. His love & protection for his sister, Clarke & human beings in general. His bravery, loyalty ability to lead & inspire others. His rebellion. Even his self deprecation is attractive because it's relatable.

His Growth
his protectiveness over those around him. starting with octavia and then expanding out to the rest of t100 as the first couple seasons progressed. my love for him was a gradual thing..didn't happen in a single moment but built over time, and I think that made him more special tbh
— K (@kasarrow) September 9, 2020
The way he was a complete character of opposites, a yin and yang character. This mellowed as it inevitably would with age and wisdom but still…that’s what made me love him quite early in S1

Of Course, His Looks
his smile, he's so selfless and brave i love him sm🥺💜 pic.twitter.com/cWCB9skrA2

the way he loves so deeply and does everything he can to keep the people he cares about safe, without ever thinking about himself – also, freckles.

His Love for His Family
His relationship with his sister is something I deeply identified with from the beginning. He has battled with this sense of responsibility throughout the entirety of the show. His struggles are such an accurate portrayal of my own experience, which I don’t find often
— astrid (@spookylabyrinth) September 9, 2020
His determination to take care of everyone around him, especially his family. He’s got such a big heart and doesn’t expect anything in return.
— JoAnna (@Pizzawitjo) September 9, 2020
His Selflessness
The way he tries to take care of his people- he scales a mountain for a little girl, chases after Jasper with a tent for acid rain, puts the chip in Madi (which I have mixed feelings about) even if it means he could get hurt or others hate him for it.
— Pris| BELLABRIEL LOVECHILD ❤️ (@WalIflowerQueen) September 9, 2020
His kindness, because everytime any of his people are in trouble he always does his best to try to save them

Bellamy Blake is the Full Package
the loyalty he has for the people he loves and cares for. how far he will go to protect those he loves and cares for. how he uses his heart over head, no matter the consequences. how he is flawed but acknowledges his wrongdoings and always works to become a better man
— bellabriel supremacy™ (@gcbriels) September 9, 2020
the fact that he always tries to be good, to make the best decision. how much he cares abt people, to understand other people’s pain and feeling. Bellamy Blake is amazing and caring
— crony (@crony42871296) September 9, 2020
because he’s so emotional but yet so strong and he always tries to do the right thing, puts others before himself, makes jokes in serious situations and is loving. also just cause he is so full of character like there are may things that make bik who he is
— Juls 🪐 Bellamy’s alive (@saturnbellamy) September 9, 2020
his big heart, his courage, his determination, the soul he puts into wanting to protect the people he loves at all costs. it's difficult to explain why he's so special to me because only those who love him as i love him can really understand it. he's a unique character.
