When it comes to DC television, there are characters all over the map. We have heroes, vigilantes, villains, and even the occasional anti-hero. But what about the characters who don’t fit into any of these categories — the ones who have blurred the lines so many times that they can’t simply be called one thing?
Yes, that’s right, we give them their own show and call them Legends.
Legends of Tomorrow is unlike any other television show. It is nearly impossible to guess exactly what will happen next, or who will even make a cameo.
Sara Lance, Ray Palmer, Mick Rory, and the rest of the team head out on exclusive missions and break every possible rule along the way. They’ve learned the hard way the extent of the butterfly effect, and the casualties it creates by changing one iota of the timeline.
From Beebo to Ghengis Khan to Jack the Ripper — nobody is safe.
These character’s crazy antics — and occasionally offensive demeanor — highlight several different personalities, making sure everyone can find a kindred spirit to latch onto and call their favorite.
Mick Rory is the gruff, no holds barred criminal, while Ray Palmer is the goody-two-shoes who is always looking for the cloud’s silver lining. Sara Lance is the take-no-prisoners captain of the ship, while Nora Darhk is a newly-ordained fairy godmother. And don’t get me started on the master of the dark arts himself, Constantine.
With their combined powers and knowledge of history, heroes, and material arts, there isn’t much that can stand in this team’s way. Even if something or someone tries, the time-traveling feats of the Waverider can help them correct it before things are permanently damaged.
All of their off-the-wall capers throughout the timeline make for a less than linear narrative, forcing fans to hyperfocus on the tiniest of red herrings to figure out where our legends will end up before the credits roll.
Will it be the past, future, or even an alternate version of the present? On any given season, it’s typically all three.
To keep all the facts straight, one would truly have to be a Time Master, collecting data on every given team member and their place in the chronology of history. Are you up for the challenge?
