Allen Maldonado Previews His Upcoming Roles on ‘Sneakerheads’ and ‘Heels’ [Exclusive Interview]
Allen Maldonado is no stranger to the acting world — having multiple credits over the years on such programs as The Last O.G., black-ish, and soon to be released Netflix original, Sneakerheads. Maldonado is also set to star on Starz’s new drama Heels which centers on the pro-wrestling community.
When he’s not acting, Maldonado is also working alongside writers and other creators. He chooses to be an artist in all sense of the word.
Maldonado took some time to answer a few questions about his upcoming roles on Sneakerheads and Heels, as well as his experiences in the business.

Tell-Tale TV: What can you tell us about your new show, Sneakerheads?
Allen Maldonado: On September 25th, the first scripted show focused on sneaker culture will drop on Netflix. Sneakerheads stars myself and King Bach a.k.a. Andrew Bachelor. It’s an inside look at the world of sneakers and what makes a true ‘sneakerhead.’
Tell-Tale TV: If you were to describe Sneakerheads using only three words what would they be?
Maldonado: Funny, hilarious, and fun.
Tell-Tale TV: How is Devin different from any other role you have ever done before?
Maldonado: He’s a father. This is the first time I play a dad on film, and he’s married — which I’m not.

Tell-Tale TV: What would happen if Devin (Sneakerheads) and Bobby (The Last O.G.) met each other?
Maldonado: Bobby might convince Devin to buy some fake sneakers.
Tell-Tale TV: You are also a writer — do you ever use what you know as an actor to help you create scenes?
Maldonado: Of course. It allows me to understand the emotions needed to round out any scene.
Tell-Tale TV: Having been both a writer and an actor, which one do you prefer? Or do you like both sides of the coin equally?
Maldonado: I love both. I’m a pure artist, so when I create it can come in many different forms.

Tell-Tale TV: What are you most excited about with your role on Heels?
Maldonado: Being able to play a pro wrestler. So, training as [a] wrestler has been fun.
Tell-Tale TV: You have been in the industry for many years. What is one piece of advice or lesson that has carried throughout?
Maldonado: Be patient. And never lose your focus and energy for your dream.
