Wynonna Earp: Top Quotes from Holy War Part 2 (Season 4 Episode 6)
For an ad hoc midseason finale, Wynonna Earp Season 4 Episode 6, “Holy War Part 2,” works perfectly.
It’s a natural stopping point, seemingly wrapping up the current Clantons vs. Earp battle and saving Nicole from death/life as a frog and/or ghost. It’s hard to decide which would be a more preferable way to live, as a frog or a ghost.
Ghost!Nicole did have that stunning dress though, but Frog!Nicole would be able to kiss Waverly…

While there are a couple emotional punches (looking at you, Doc and Wynonna), the fact that this episode manages to wrap up a lot of plot lines fairly nicely helps ease the pain of waiting for Wynonna Earp‘s return.
Now, let’s break down this episode, quote by quote, because this episode does have some absolutely fantastic quotes.
Frog!Nicole’s Great Escape, Waverly vs. the Reaper, and Ghost!Nicole
Nedley: I thought she was a goddamn frog.
Waverly: She is a frog and dead and also a reaper! Stay with the plot, Nedley!
Waverly trying to fight off Billy the reaper, Jeremy and Nedley being confused because they missed Reaper Round 1, and Jeremy trying to catch Frog!Nicole is, hands down, my favorite part of the hour. It’s absolutely hilarious, and it’s one of the reasons why I love Wynonna Earp so much.
The shots from Jeremy and Nedley’s point of view of Waverly frantically dodging nothing are amazing. This is a fantastic bit of levity early on, which helps make the seriousness and darkness of scenes later on in the hour even more unexpected and devastating.

Nicole trying to talk through Reaper!Billy doesn’t really work though.
It is a bit awkward and doesn’t solve much. Waverly should’ve put the Clanton thing together by the sheer fact that she’s now the target of a reaper attack. Ghost!Nicole does look amazing in that (totally random) sparkly dress though.
Rosita and Wynonna
Rosita: Why does it always involve women betraying women?
A revenant wanting to do a pink swear is amazing, but things get even better when Wynonna and Rosita stroll into demon-nun land and have to battle to the death. The fact that the nuns wanted Rosita only to make her fight Wynonna does not make any sense at all, but let’s just roll with it.
The trash-talking is perfection, and Rosita’s top-notch fighting skills involve throwing her boot at Wynonna. Wow, how I love these two women. There’s also something strangely funny about seeing a bunch of armed nuns cheer as two women fight each other.
This is a fun way to have Wynonna and Rosita work out their anger and end up on the same side, parting peacefully and maybe even as friends.

While it may appear random to bring back Rosita now, it works.
She shares that the people who wanted to buy Alice were the Clantons, which not only solves one kind of lingering mystery from Wynonna Earp Season 2, but it also gives Wynonna a bit more fuel to add to the Clanton-hating fire.
While we may not all approve of Wynonna’s shooting the Sheriff in the back, you can understand why she is so unwilling to believe the feud can be buried.
Pre-garden, Wynonna may not have really cared about the feud with the Clantons, but they have been coming for her and her loved ones so hard since she returned, that it makes sense that learning they tried to take Alice would be the final straw for Wynonna.
The Return of Peacemaker
Wynonna: The curse may be over, but our enemies won’t stop coming just because we want them to. And I know you want what I want, to keep kicking evil ass. Enough bullshit, I do what needs to be done because I’m a hero. You know what, yeah, sometimes that makes me a killer.
The bond between a woman and her demon-killing gun is special. Wynonna gives an insanely inspirational speech to peacemaker, and it’s a fitting way to reunite heir (former heir, I guess) and sword/gun.
Typically when Wynonna talks to peacemaker, it’s funny. This time around, Wynonna’s chat gives us more of a glimpse of who she is as a woman and a demon hunter.

Wynonna has come to depend on peacemaker to keep her family safe. While you certainly can’t help but agree with her as a bunch of demon nuns charge at her, Wynonna is also saying that she believes that safety only comes from killing your enemies.
It appears as if there’s no other option in her mind. There’s no co-existing, which helps explain why she feels the need to shoot the Sheriff after Doc talks him down. She doesn’t believe people can change, and she isn’t willing to risk her family’s safety on it.
The End of WynDoc?
Wynonna: Do you want me just to say it, Henry? I like you because you’re not perfect. You’re all busted up inside like me.
Doc: I do not want to be anymore.
Wynonna: Must be nice to have a choice.
Just when you think everything’s swell in Purgatory, Doc and Wynonna come to rip your heart out.
We’ve seen a lot of growth from Doc recently, as discussed in my review of Wynonna Earp Season 4 Episode 5, “Holy War Part 1.” He’s figured out what kind of man he wants to be. It makes sense that he and Wynonna are no longer on the same page, but it’s still completely devastating.
While I want them to be on good terms again, this is such a monumental difference between them, that it is hard to see how they can reconcile. It will need to feel earned, and I hope it doesn’t involve Doc compromising his new view on life and feuds.

Character-wise, it would be better to see Wynonna come to realize that peacemaker isn’t needed to fight her battles. Perhaps spending more time in this new demon-filled Purgatory will allow Wynonna to see that you can co-exist with your enemies and believe them when they say they mean you no harm anymore.
It will be a slow journey, hopefully, because this kind of change shouldn’t happen overnight. Also, it would help if there were less life-threatening attacks on her family. And with Eve still lurking around, my gut tells me Wynonna is going to need peacemaker.
Do you think that Doc and Wynonna will ever be back to the way things were between them? Or is this too monumental of a difference?
Wayhaught Proposal Round 2
Nicole: Waverly Earp.
Waverly: Please, let me. Nicole Haught, will you marry me?
Nicole: Yes.
While this is the sweetest moment, was anyone else expecting there to be a wedding and not a proposal? Wayhaught does deserve a proposal that isn’t followed by a roofie, but I was ready for a makeshift wedding at the Homestead.
Regardless, I’m always here for some adorable Wayhaught content (or some downright sexy stair time).
It’s hard to fully be in the moment, soaking up every ounce of happiness, with Doc and Wynonna staring at each other across the room, pain and betrayal on their faces. It’s devastating, and it says so much about Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon as actors that they are able to break our hearts without speaking.
Stray Thoughts
- Wow, Waverly still has some juice in her angel powers.
- I’m glad Rosita found a new place to call home that is safe from danger and surrounded by hot nuns.
- So, where’s Eve?
- Let’s not think about how long we have to wait for new episodes.
