What to Watch on TV: Lovecraft Country, Lucifer, Chemical Hearts
Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV for the week of August 16th! We’ll be sharing our picks for what to watch this week, from marathons to big guest spots, and significant episodes of TV to look forward to while stuck inside.

Big Brother — Sunday, August 16
Big Brother fans might be in for a repeat of last week as Memphis is HOH. If he follows his ally Cody’s original intentions, Kaysar and Janelle are in danger again.
They swiped their VIP cards already, so only the veto could possibly save them now — unless Memphis makes up his own mind for the first time ever while playing Big Brother and spares them. Tune in Sunday, August 16 at 8/7c on CBS to find out nominations.
Lovecraft Country — Sunday, August 16

A missing father leads a trio of people on a trip that lands them in the middle of a nightmare-ish mix of science fiction and reality. Lovecraft Country debuts Sunday, August 16 at 9/8c on HBO.
Episode Description: Atticus Freeman embarks on a journey in search of his missing father, Montrose; after recruiting his uncle, George, and childhood friend, Letitia, to join him, the trio sets out for Ardham, Mass., where they think Montrose may have gone.
I May Destroy You — Monday, August 17
Arabella finds unexpected inspiration to make progress on her book as Kwame attempts to make amends. I May Destroy You airs Monday, August 17 at 9/8c on HBO.
Episode Description: Arabella’s obsession with Della leads to unexpected progress on her book, and Kwame wades into uncharted waters with Tyrone and attempts to make amends with a disgruntled ex-flame.
Dead Pixels — Tuesday, August 18
Follow the lives of 3 friends and role-playing gamers as they navigate life and a balance between their RPG social group and real-life as new additions approach their hunting group. Dead Pixels debuts Tuesday, August 18 at 8/7c on the CW.
Series Description: Meg, Nicky and Usman are friends who share an obsession with a fantasy role-playing game Kingdom Scrolls. “Dead Pixels” follows their lives and their friendship both in the real world and online. Jase, the newest recruit at Meg’s office, is not only irritating but also very bad at the game, a big problem for Meg, who otherwise might have a crush on him. Together the group defends their castle and crush orc invasions, but over time find themselves forced to engage more and more with the real world through new gamer Russell.
Chemical Hearts — Friday, August 21
Lili Reinhardt stars in this film as a new transfer student that catches the eye of a senior. What develops is a friendship that will be tested in the face of a secret. Chemical Hearts debuts Friday, August 21 on Prime Video.

Hoops Season 1 — Friday, August 21

Jake Johnson lends his voice to a high school basketball coach who is looking for a way to turn his life around and firmly believes his terrible team might be the case. Hoops Season 1 debuts Friday, August 21 on Netflix.
Series Description: Hoops is an animated comedy sitcom that centers on a hot-headed, foul-mouthed high school basketball coach (Jake Johnson) who thinks turning around his god awful team will take him to the “big leagues” and turn his miserable life around.
Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 — Friday, August 21

The first part of a new season sees Lucifer dealing with his twin brother’s appearance, ready to take Lucifer’s place on Earth. When he returns, will Lucifer be able to undo the mess Michael makes? Lucifer Season 5 Part 1 drops Friday, August 21 on Netflix.
Season Description: In Part A of season 5, Lucifer’s twin brother Michael secretly takes the devil’s place on earth while he’s back in Hell. Eventually, Lucifer must return and face the mess his brother made with his life. Love in the Time of Corona — Saturday, August 22

Freeform is bringing viewers a new short series filmed during the quarantine, adjusting to life on lockdown, navigating the obstacles, and love. Love in the Time of Corona debuts Saturday, August 22 at 8/7c on Freeform.
Description: An ensemble of characters shelter in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, some of whom are wondering if a hookup with a roommate can ever be casual, while another is kicking herself for deciding to isolate with an ex.
