Watch the Trailer for Disney+’s ‘The Right Stuff’
It’s been a long ride for The Right Stuff, the space race-centered docudrama based off the book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. After being slated to air on NatGeo, it moved to Disney+ with the announcement of the streaming service.
In August 2019, well before widespread coronavirus concerns, it was officially presented to the public at the D23 conference with a panel attended by the cast and astronaut Nicole Stott and was slated to premiere in 2020.
Now Disney+ has given fans the news they’ve been waiting for: The Right Stuff will take off on October 9.

The Right Stuff details the early days of NASA and the selection the Mercury 7, America’s first astronauts.
Carefully chosen from the best pilots and engineers in the country and led by Major John Glenn and Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard, the Mercury 7 are recognized to this day as patriots and pioneers at the forefront of America’s exploration of the stars.
The series will also showcase the personal lives of the astronauts and their families, who all found themselves thrust into a national spotlight. With such an ambitious undertaking being watched by the world, they were players in what has been called “America’s first reality show” as they undertook a mission at risk of their own lives
With The Right Stuff already having been adapted into a miniseries, the show will need to work to be seen beyond its acclaimed predecessor. A strong cast, powerful writing, and beautiful cinematography will all go a long way to help. Check them out in the latest trailer for the series:
