Legacies Review: I’ll Never Give Up Hope (Season 2 Episode 1)
Josie and Lizzie spend the summer apart, Landon continues to try and bring Raf back to his human state, and MG spends the summer with Kaleb’s family in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Hope navigates and tries to stay alive while stuck inside Malivore on Legacies Season 2 Episode 1, “I’ll Never Give Up Hope.”
One of the biggest cliffhangers for the Season 1 finale of Legacies was the fate of Hope Mikaelson and what we would see happen to her. Well, we got all of the answers that we were hoping for, but did it fall short?
We see Hope roam around the empty void that is Malivore, along with Clarke, all summer long only for her to escape in one episode and virtually learn nothing more about how to defeat Malivore. Hope is gone for a total of three months, but to her, it hasn’t been that long because of how time worked in Malivore.

It’s not shocking that Clarke is buddy-buddy with Hope while stuck together because there’s nothing else to do other than try to escape along with her. Clarke is not a good guy no matter what sob story he likes to tell to others for them to give him sympathy. Hope has the chance to return home many times, but because Clarke keeps his mouth shut about what the light is she can’t.
Don’t get me wrong, I love that Hope is back, even if nobody can remember anything about her, but I feel like there should be more worry about her being stuck, not her escaping in episode 1. Granted, I am excited to see what happens next and where it goes from here with Hope, but I also feel like her being trapped should’ve been milked a bit more.
Hope’s smart to use a truth spell on Clarke, but leaving one of the children of Malivore alive is not a wise decision and it’s going to come back to bite her in the ass. The real question is: who is resurrecting Clarke if it’s not Malivore giving him life again?

With Hope gone, Raf fulltime werewolf, and Alaric no longer living at the mansion, Landon has been alone with his thoughts and few people to open up or talk to. I’m not saying that I like them together, but Josie and Landon bond over the summer and grow a real connection with one another, which is nice to see for someone who’s constantly overthinking and depressed, aka Landon.
Josie takes a genuine interest in Landon and tries to convince him that just because he’s a phoenix doesn’t mean that he has unlimited lives and she’s right. Landon knows hardly anything about being a phoenix and has no clue what multiple deaths could do to him in the long run. He’s sad and he’s taking it out on himself because he doesn’t care if he lives or dies.
Josie and Landon would make a cute couple, there’s no question about it, but I want Hope to go back and explain everything that happened before she gets attacked again. I want her to profess her love for Landon and make him remember because if she did he would probably break the spell since he’s already having visions of her as he drowns himself in the lake every night.

It’s frightening to have Kai mentioned between Lizzie and Josie because we all know how suspicious they are about everything and if they try to reach out to him to ask about the merge things could get bloody.
I know it’s only a short and sweet moment between the two, but I know that we haven’t seen the last of Kaleb’s sister, Kim. I can already foresee that Kaleb is going to try to set Lizzie and MG up, but Kim’s going to come out of nowhere and ruin that. I think an interesting plot twist would be to make Kim become supernatural and then move to the mansion with all of them.
The season premiere only makes me hungry for more, more, more. I can’t wait to see what plays out in the rest of the season and what will happen with Hope. I hope that this season we get to see a cameo of Caroline at least once.
