Saved by the Bell Revival Heading to NBCUniversal’s New Streaming Service
Class is officially back in session!
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Saved by the Bell, the iconic children’s show that followed the antics of the teens at Bayside High. So what better time for this exciting news to be announced?
Saved by the Bell is being revived at NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, and the revival will include at least two original cast members, according to TV Line.
Both Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater) and Elizabeth Berkley (Jesse Spano) will be involved in the revival series, which comes from Tracey Wigfield. Cast members Lopez and Berkley along with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played Zack Morris, hinted at this revival a bit during Fan Expo Canada this year.
“Obviously we couldn’t be in high-school still so you’d have to be creative with the premise. Who knows — you never say never,” Lopez said during the panel.
And based on Gosselaar’s comments during the panel, it’s not far-fetched that he will also be part of the revival series. In fact, it sounds pretty promising.
“There are still talks, and if something came up with actual legs I’m sure all three of us would be on board to be a part of it. Nothing has come yet, but we would like to,” Gosselaar stated.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service is in talks with Gosselaar as well as other cast members. The premise? It’s a comedy that explores what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low income-high schools and proposes the affected students be sent to the highest-performing schools in the state, including Bayside High.
Like Lopez said, you’d have to be creative with the premise.
Other original cast members from Saved by the Bell included Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski), Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle), Dustin Diamond (Screech Powers), and Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding).
The new streaming service, which will be called “Peacock” will launch next April.
