TV News Wrap-Up: ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Final Trailer, ‘Veronica Mars’ Gets New Theme Song, Jennifer Morrison Joins ‘This Is Us’ Season 4
We’re knee-deep into summer TV season, but just because it’s summer doesn’t mean the prep for the fall stops. There are plenty of series both on streaming services and networks gearing up for their new seasons.

Teasers
A new Stranger Things Season 3 trailer dropped this week, and it looks like the paranormal scourge has not left Hawkins, Indiana. Eleven closed the gate to The Upside Down at the end of Stranger Things Season 2, but in the new trailer it looks like something got left behind and that something is out for revenge. And it’s angry enough that it learned English to be able to speak! Watch the full trailer below:
The Veronica Mars revival has a new theme song! Don’t panic though, because it is the same song, it’ll just sound a little different. In a video released by Hulu, Kristen Bell, and creator Rob Thomas banter, and make a lot of Say Anything references before premiering a new cover of “We Used to Be Friends” performed by The Pretenders’ Chrissy Hynde.
Casting News
Jennifer Morrison has been cast in This Is Us Season 4. TV Line reports that Morrison has been cast in a major, recurring role for the NBC series fourth season. While details of the character are being kept under wraps, TV Line sources do state that she will have a substantial role. The fourth season of This Is Us will premiere Tuesday, September 24th.

Rosamund Pike is set to star in The Wheel of Time adaptation. Vulture reports that Pike will play Moiraine, a member of the powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai. Amazon has picked up the series, but the rest of the cast has yet to be announced. The source material for this series consists of fifteen books and has a character list that demolishes Game of Thrones.

Numerous actors are eyeing roles in the CBS All-Access adaptation of The Stand. TV Line reports that Whoopi Goldberg and Amber Heard are all nearing deals with CBS’s streamer. The Stand is based on Stephen King’s 1978 novel about an influenza outbreak and the survivors who are struggling to rebuild society. Currently, the only casting announcement has been James Marsden who will play Stu Redman, aka patient zero.

There’s been a casting shake-up for Bo’s father on the ABC series, mixed-ish. According to TV Line, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, formerly of The Passage, is replacing Andrew Holm in the new ABC series. The 1980s prequel off-shoot of black-ish will premiere Tuesdays at 9/8c this fall.

Renewals and Cancellations
Netflix’s Chambers will not be returning for Season 2 according to Vulture. The creepy drama about a heart transplant gone awry stars Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn alongside Sivan Alyra Rose, who played transplant recipient Sasha Yazzie.
