The Magicians Review: A Timeline and Place (Season 4 Episode 6)

Reviews, The Magicians

Alice finds herself at a loss for words once she begins to see the good in magic again, Margo must deal with regional politics again to help her kingdom, Marina and Penny travel back to their timelines, and Quentin threatens the monster on The Magicians Season 4 Episode 6, “A Timeline and Place.”

Josh and Margo are not a couple that I would have ever thought would get together, but I can see where they could potentially be good for one another. They can both say that it’s only because of the quickening that they’ve been so flirty but it was happening beforehand, the quickening just sped up the hookup rate.

Josh is not a bad person, and Margo would be lucky to have him because he’s a fantastic cook, is always ready to come back with comedic content, is genuinely nice, and loves nothing more than helping the ones he loves. Where he screwed up was mentioning Eliot, especially in a manner of Margo basically upstaging and being better than Eliot.

Josh doesn’t deserve the full severity that Margo gave him, but he needed some of it because what he said was messed up. The literal only thing you never do around Margo is bad mouth Eliot. That’s the love of her life, and she will do anything to get him back so being compared to him completely throws Margo off her shit and makes her think about the way she’s been running things.

I don’t think that Josh and Margo are over with, but they will need to sit down and have a serious talk about it at some point in the future.

Margo is going to have to realize that if she wants to rule Fillory on her own, she’s going to have to get it together politically because Fen and Josh won’t be there to help every time. It’s not replacing Eliot to be efficient and begin to do things that he did; it’s what a great leader does.

Using brute force to get your way only goes so far and if Margo isn’t careful with who she’s threatening she could end up having another war on her hands.

I haven’t cared much for Penny 23, but I am so grateful for him because we finally get to see our Penny alive and looking happy! Penny no longer has a timeline but he’s still keeping up with everything happening on the ground, and it only makes me want him back more.

I wish that Penny and Kady could see each other again, even if it were for ten minutes.

I agree with Marina, her and Penny 23 shouldn’t have been thinking about Daniel’s mother anyway because there’s nothing they can do in the long run. Penny 23 is going to have to learn to toughen up a bit because he’s not going to make it far with all the tough choices the group has to make daily.

It’s disheartening to watch Alice slowly begin to fall in love with the good of magic again because that’s all going to go back down the drain the moment she realizes that the library is confronting Sheila.

Alice needs Sheila in her life; the book was not wrong. Sheila is the person who’s going to make Alice believe in the magic of magic again. It’s not always a burden, and sometimes you can use it for greatness, but at the moment the library is fighting against that, so there will be some pushbacks.

I know that next week Alice will go back to thinking magic is a burden that shouldn’t be, but for now, I want her to continue with the light in her eyes and heart from watching the children play in the water. I want her to remember that magic isn’t all evil.

The monster has officially pushed Quentin over the edge now that he knows Eliot’s alive. He gives entirely no fucks about his own life if Eliot dies and the monster is finally coming to terms with the fact that he’s not going to be able to kill Eliot’s body if he wants help.

I wish that we were getting to see more of Kady this season. Three weeks without seeing her is long enough.

With only four episodes left my hopes of seeing our Eliot before the finale are not looking good. But, I will be alright as long as in the end he’s okay and gets to come back home.
