On the winter premiere of New Amsterdam Season 1 Episode 10, “Six or Seven Minutes,” more than Max’s life hangs in the balance at the hospital.
The staff is trying to do all they can to prevent a nurses walk-out while also trying to figure out why Max is not at work.
Dr. Reynolds must try to help a patient in need of a life-saving heart surgery get it covered by insurance.
Dr. Bloom is still at work despite promising she would take some time off for self-care, while Dr. Kapoor and Ella the barista continue their friendship.

Episode description: As Max fights for his life, New Amsterdam is in full swing with a pertinent heart surgery that is not covered by insurance and a potential nurses walk out. As the team feels Max’s absence and the doctors find out that they may have to treat one of their own, Sharpe must finally come clean about Max’s condition.
