Once Upon a Christmas Miracle Review: A Heartwarming Tale of Family and Traditions
The magic of Christmas is an underlying theme to many a Christmas film. However, what most of them lack is a sincerity and honesty to that magic.
For Once Upon A Christmas Miracle on Hallmark, the magic is in the storytelling. Coming from a true to life story, the magic found by the Krueger family one Christmas is overwhelmingly heartwarming and inspiring.
Synopsis: After receiving a medical diagnosis before the holidays, Heather Krueger discovers she is in urgent need of a life-saving liver transplant. Facing incredible odds against finding a donor, she’s shocked when a stranger, Chris Dempsey, volunteers to donate half his liver to her. As Heather and Chris get to know one another and their families before and after the transplant, they form a deep connection and begin to wonder if the closeness they feel goes beyond the special connection between organ donor and recipient. The two must decide if Chris’ selfless act is the beginning of a beautiful, true love story.
While the story itself contains moments of romance and love, the strongest display of love comes from family and the traditions they hold.

For Heather Krueger that love and connection are just what she needs in order to hold out the faith of finding a living donor for her liver. It’s a faith that never wavers the whole movie.
The strength and belief of Christmas magic never even enters into hokey territory because of the story’s roots in reality. Sure, the sentimentality is most likely upped a bit, but that just works to really drive home the overall message.
Having a little faith in Christmas is never hard when you have family and traditions to back you up.
While Heather ultimately gets her living donor and a second chance at life it’s not without concern. She is overwhelmingly grateful for the gift she has received even though she feels indebted to the man.

It is through her family and friends that she is able to come to terms with what he has done for her. They help her to see that it is nothing more than what she would have done for someone else.
Heather: That’s a lot to ask of someone.
Mr. Krueger: Wouldn’t you do it for someone else if you could?
Sure the plot gets a bit predictable at times, but the wonder of it all cancels that out. We end up not caring that Heather is clearly going to find love or that she will end up finding a living donor.

What matters more is the nature in which the story is told. They let us believe in the success and beauty of it all because every character believes in it too.
Even when Heather is faced with rejection after rejection, we never lose hope because Heather never wavers in hers. It’s inspiring to see and calls us to do more in our own lives to help others.
We are inspired to reach out to those in need, especially if we don’t know them. That is one of Once Upon a Christmas Miracle‘s deeper messages. Use the magic of Christmas to change someone’s life all year round.
Heather: He was my Christmas Angel and I was his.
With a hearty mix of human compassion and love, Once Upon a Christmas Miracle proves that it is a heartwarming tale of family and traditions. These traditions make Christmas the miraculous wonder that it is.
