Melanie Scrofano on Wynonna Earp Season 3, Directing, and More [Video]

At San Diego Comic-Con we got the chance to sit down with Melanie Scrofano during a roundtable interview to discuss her journey as Wynonna Earp and her experience directing for Wynonna Earp Season 3.

Scrofano directed the first Wayhaught scene of the year on Wynonna Earp Season 3 Episode 1 “Blood Red and Going Down.”

“It was very intimidating, not so much because of the directing,” Scrofano said. “It was the first episode and we have the rest of the season to shoot, and if I lose the respect of the crew, I’m in a lot of trouble.”

Scrofano got to direct later in the season as well and shared that after the succeeding with this scene, directing later was “a lot more fun.”

“The most interesting thing to me is that Wynonna feels like she was left by her mother when she needed her,” Scrafano explained when asked about how becoming a mother has shaped Wynonna’s relationship with Mama Earp.

“I wonder if she realizes yet that she just did the same thing her mother did. For different reasons of course, but it’s going to be interesting to explore that.”

Scrofano teased that fans have a lot to look forward to this season as the fight against Bulshar brings everyone closer together.
