Over the next several seasons, Meredith and Thatcher struggled to build a relationship and mend the pain from past events, but the introduction of Lexie Grey changed their dynamic. She became a bridge between the two until Perry’s last appearance in Season 7.

While Perry left Seattle, he certainly did not leave Shondaland. He played Cyrus Beene on Scandal, which had its season finale this year, for its entire 7-season run.

Perry himself tweeted about the news writing “I can finally answer a question I’ve received about 13,000 times!”

After all these years it will be very interesting to see what Thatcher’s return brings to Grey’s Anatomy.
