Cloak & Dagger Review: Ghost Stories (Season 1 Episode 8)

Cloak and Dagger, Reviews

Tyrone gets a taste of justice as he and detective O’Reilly, with the help of officer Fuchs, get the confession they need from Connors on Cloak & Dagger Season 1 Episode 8, “Ghost Stories.”

Tyrone, O’Reilly, and Fuchs achieved their goal by getting Connors to admit to killing Billy, but they didn’t expect a backfire after Connors is taken in. There’s a reason why Fuchs told O’Reilly for so long not to go after Connors, now he’s dead because he threw his good conscious out the window to help.

I love that O’Reilly and Fuchs help Tyrone bring Connors in, but they had to know that just bringing him in wouldn’t be the end of it. Connors has connections higher up and everyone in the station likes him. Instead of bringing Connors in they should have just taken him out and let that be the end of it.

I know that O’Reilly and Tyrone want justice and didn’t want to kill Connors, but I think that would’ve been the better choice because now there’s a chance he could get out. He’s already had Fuchs killed and now that he knows what Tyrone can do things could get messy and out of hand fast.

Besides Fuchs being killed afterward the plan works marvelously. O’Reilly and Fuchs kept Tyrone’s secret and helped him trick Connors into thinking he’s going crazy. The way Tyrone has mastered his powers and can use them on will is a great character development. He uses the cloak as an excuse as to why he can use his powers on cue, but his determination is what does the trick.

Tyrone’s father took it hard at first, but after he got to say one last goodbye to Billy’s cloak that he’s been looking at for the past eight years he gives it to Tyrone to finish. I think that this tradition, with Tyrone joining in, will be a great way for Otis to start getting back to normal and living his life with less guilt.

I know that Tandy only visits Tyrone’s house so she can steal his mother’s keycard into the Roxxon building, but I like the chemistry that she has with Tyrone now. It’s no longer awkward for the two of them to be with each other and talking about the hard subjects. Her inviting him to the memorial that she and her mother hold every year is genuine and caring.

Tandy has a goal in mind, which is to clear her father’s name, and when she does nothing will stop her from achieving it. Peter Scarborough may think that he is living it up and he won’t have any consequences for what happened, but that changes once he’s tied up and being force-fed the evidence he covered up.

Even when brought face to face with the evidence Scarborough still won’t tell the truth, instead, he only offers a lump sum of money in exchange for the evidence. Which, is something that would normally never even be considered, but after living in her mother’s nightmare she accepts the payment plan from him.

Tandy’s entire world shatters the moment she sees her father slap her mother in the face. When confronting Scarborough he says something about how Nathan really was as a person, and Tandy shuts him down, but that moment as he slaps her mother solidifies any and all need to clear his name.

Tandy takes the bribe from Scarborough and decides to stash away a lot of the money inside a statue in the church where she sleeps. She’s smart for hiding it somewhere nobody would ever think to look in their lifetime.

This season is shaping up pretty phenomenally and I can’t wait to see what the last two episodes have in store for us.

Other Thoughts:

  • I’m surprised that Scarborough didn’t try to come after Tandy when he survived the ceiling collapsing on him.
  • Watching Connors breakdown face to face to Tyrone is one of my favorite moments from the episode.
  • I hope that Tandy puts that money to good use and doesn’t just blow it.
  • I love how Ivan doesn’t necessarily remember Tandy, but she’s helping her get back at Roxxon.
