Preview — The 100 Season 5 Episode 7: Acceptable Losses
After pushing through another one-week hiatus, The 100 Season 5 Episode 7, “Acceptable Losses,” promises to dive head first into some of the meaty emotional conflicts that have been building between our favorite characters this season.
On “Acceptable Losses” relationships will be put to the test as tensions rise and the war for Eden pushes our heroes to fight for what matters most to each of them.
Directed by Mairzee Almas and written by Hannibal and Battlestar Galactica alum Jeff Vlaming, “Acceptable Losses” is on track to be another stellar episode in The 100‘s best season yet. Echo must put her friendship with Raven at risk, while Bellamy stands up to an ever-darker Octavia, and the tension between Abby and Kane reaches a boiling point.
Well versed in the tactics needed to win a war, Echo is forced to resurrect her old role as a spy to play an inside man for Octavia and protect her space family. But to complete that mission she needs Raven to use her genius technical abilities and doing so while they’re both Eligius prisoners/hostages could put both of their lives at risk.
Bellamy has faith in both Raven and Echo, but with two of the most important women in a dangerous situation with no way to reach him, he’s got little patience for Octavia’s war games that put them there.
In past seasons Bellamy made himself a safe place for Octavia to take out her frustration and anger over what the world had done to her and taken from her. But it looks like the six years they spent apart has put them back on more even footing.
Bellamy has become the soft and benevolent leader of a small family, while Octavia is now a ruthless, bloodthirsty queen of a gladiator cult. These new versions of Bellamy and Octavia are struggling to find the deep connection they once had as brother and sister, or to even understand who the other has become at all.
Octavia is darker than ever, and we keep getting teases about “The Dark Year,” an upcoming flashback episode that we hope will reveal more about how she and the rest of Wonkru got to this point. Indra appears to be the only person close to Octavia that still sees the humanity in her. Will she and Bellamy be able to save Octavia’s soul?
Octavia hasn’t exactly been communicative about her plans for winning the war against Diyoza and taking over Eden. What do you think Clarke and Bellamy will discover? How will each of them react now that their priorities lie with their different families?
“Acceptable Losses” also promises to deliver some pretty intense Kabby content, as the stress they’ve been under for the last six years, Abby’s addiction, and their current status as hostages/asylum seekers pushes Abby and Kane to their limits.
The first six episodes of The 100 Season 5 have shown that their relationship is stronger than ever, and as anyone in a long-term relationship will tell you, you don’t get there without your fair share of arguments and brutally honest conversations.
What do you think they’re arguing about? Will they finally reach a turning point in Abby’s addiction? Tune in on Tuesday to find out!
