While attending the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas last week, we had the chance to chat with Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams about her upcoming new show, HBO’s Sharp Objects.

Adams walked the festival’s opening night red carpet, ahead of that evening’s advance screening of the first episode of Sharp Objects in the Paramount Theatre.

“I play Camille Preaker, who’s returning back to her town after a very chosen absence,” Adams revealed. “We’re meeting her family and being introduced to her private pain.”

The psychological thriller miniseries is scheduled to debut on HBO on July 8, 2018. It is based on the debut novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, who is best known for her book Gone Girl.

Flynn co-wrote the eight-episode miniseries with showrunner Marti Noxon.

“I read the book far before the project,” Adams said. She also confirmed that she’d gladly used the novel as a guide for her role in the TV series. “I was always knee-deep. It was my guide. I’d highlighted, bent pages, all of that.”
