Preview — The 100 Season 5 Episode 5: Shifting Sands

Previews, The 100

“Pandora’s Box” has been opened and The 100 has unleashed a truly spectacular season so far. The 100 Season 5 Episode 5, “Shifting Sands,” looks to take us places we’ve never been before.

Directed by Omar Madha and written by Nick Bragg “Shifting Sands” sees our heroes scattered once more, as half reside in the valley with the increasingly deadly Eligius crew, and half reside with Wonkru as Octavia leads them on a dangerous march across the desert.

“Shifting Sands” appears to follow three major stories: Octavia’s crusade, Spacekru’s fate, and Kane and Abby’s tenuous new allegiance.

In the desert, “Shifting Sands” promises to answer one of the biggest questions from The 100 Season 5 Trailer. What is crawling inside that man’s stomach? The trailer below teases that “it came from below.” Let us know your theories on what the alien parasite might be in the comments!

This storyline also promises the return of Kara Cooper, a standout new characer from The 100 Season 5 Episode 2 “Red Queen,” as well as some Mackson action, and three of the original core four working together again.

Meanwhile, Raven and Murphy are having a no good very bad day as McCreepy, I mean, McCreary punishes the two them for taking the cryo-sleep prisoners hostage.

Since his arrival, audiences have been rooting for Shaw to turn against his fellow Eligius crew members and team up with our heroes, and “Shifting Sands” appears to set him up to do just that. I mean can you blame the guy? I’d want to be on whichever team Raven Reyes is on too.

On The 100 Season 5 Episode 4 “Pandora’s Box,” Abby agreed to go with Eligius without a fight as long as she could bring Kane with her, effectively keeping him away from Octavia’s bloodthirsty machinations. On “Shifting Sands,” Diyoza has already learned about Abby’s pill addiction giving the former Colonel leverage over her newly acquired doctor.

What is happening to the Eligius crew that they need Abby to diagnose and cure? How will Abby handle not being able to access her pills?

How will she and Kane adapt to their new position with Eligius? They say its better to go with the devil you know, but I’d say a cozy cottage with Eligius is better than a near certain death waiting at the end of Octavia’s blade.
