5 Things We Learned about Wynonna Earp Season 3 at ClexaCon 2018

Wynonna Earp Season 3 production is currently wrapping up in Calgary, but at ClexaCon 2018 showrunner Emily Andras, alongside cast members Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell, and Tamara Duarte dropped a few hints of what is to come.

Here are a few of the things we learned!

1. Four female guests stars have officially been announced!

One of the biggest pieces of news to come out of ClexaCon 2018 was that Lost Girl alumni Anna Silk would be guest starring on Wynonna Earp as “Kevin.”

Though Emily Andras wasn’t forthcoming on any details, this makes number four of an amazing list of female guest stars including Lost Girl and Dark Matter alumni Zoie Palmer, Canadian legend Megan Follows (Reign) and newcomer Chantel Riley.

Having Megan Follows cast as Mama Earp has lived up to the hype Emily Andras noted in the feature series panel. “She’s so revered and is so amazing,” Andras said. “It is so hilarious to have her on the show and be like ‘maybe a demon is chasing you in this scene.’ This is such a crazy show and she really got into the spirit of it.”

2. Mama Earp

On the Season 2 finale, fans were stunned when Wynonna showed up to visit her mother, which was a shadow figure at the time. Emily Andras indicated that “it feels like at the end of Season 2 that Wynonna knows where Mom is but I don’t know that Waverly knows.”

“Waverly was Mama’s favorite. We’ve been honest that I had not the best relationship with my dad, but they had a special bond. So it’s a really, really big deal for Waverly. It brings out a lot of emotions,” Dominique Provost-Chalkley said when asked about the effects from Mama Earp’s return.

3. Wayhaught and Chill

Wynonna Earp is one of the largest draws to ClexaCon because of the fans love of the LGBTQ couple dubbed as #Wayhaught with Waverly Earp (Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole Haught (Barrell).

When showrunner Emily Andras was asked how gay things could get in Season 3, she answered in return with a question — “What’s the straightest show you can think of? I feel like Season 3 makes Season 2 look like that straight show.”

Not only that, but this season will feature a much more domesticated look into our favorite couple. “We get to see WayHaught in a really lovely place this season,” Dominique Provost-Chalkley said.

“It’s really nice to see them a little bit more comfortable with each other,” Katherine Barrell agreed.

4. Things get even ‘haught’er

Fans have been asking for more Office Nicole Haught since she first appeared in Season 1. Even though Season 2 gave us much more of our favorite Purgatory officer and showcased a huge surprise in her backstory, Katherine Barrell shared that Season 3 will expand it even more.

“We definitely get to see so much more of Nicole’s storyline in this season,” Barrell indicated. “I loved shooting this season so much because it really feels like Nicole is in the Scooby gang.”

That gang is lead by Wynonna Earp, played by Melanie Scrofano, and Scrofano and Barrell had an unforgettable duo scene in Season 2.

“I love Wynonna and Nicole and I love that tension because anyone that’s dating Wynonna’s little sister isn’t going to be good enough for her,” explained Andras.

“Mel and Kat have incredible comic timing, but they don’t have the same comic timing, so it really turns into something incredible.”

5. Black Badge Division

In a surprising turn in the panel, Emily Andras acknowledged that Black Badge Division is not officially gone despite most fans thinking it was after events like Agent Lucado (Kate Drummond) being killed by Mictian and Richard Moody (Kevin Hanchard) effectively dissolving their jobs in the organization.

“I would say they do come back in a very unexpected way, and a way that’s very personal,” Andras hinted.
