16 Underrated Television Shows from 2017
13. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a show everyone should be watching. Not only is it funny, witty, and entertaining to watch, but the message of the show is one we should all pay attention to. Often, the musical numbers are exactly what’s needed to get at the reality of mental illness, as well as the many other issues the show manages to address.
14. The Originals

Many dismiss The Originals as just another supernatural show on The CW, but it’s so much more than that.
Thematically, the series is incredibly complex, and it’s amazing that they’ve mined so much family drama out of a single (albeit extremely old) family: the Mikaelsons.
To top it all off, the show is a goldmine of amazing ships and powerhouse performances courtesy of its enormously talented cast. The season four finale was heartbreaking and breathtaking, setting the series up for an exciting and memorable final bow.
15. Lovesick
Lovesick, formerly Scrotal Recall, is the best British millennial comedy you haven’t seen yet. The basic premise of the show is that Dylan, a floppy haired young Brit, learns he has an STI.
He goes on a campaign to inform all of the people he has slept with because it’s the right thing to do. The construct allows the audience to travel to different times in lives of the best friend trio of Dylan, Evie, and Luke.
Considering the rather crude premise, this Netflix original is surprisingly tender. It has a great deal of love for its main characters and the love that is shared between them. The show features a heart-tugging ship between best friends where timing and fear are the biggest obstacles for a happily ever after.
Lovesick Season 3 deepens the journey of identity and friendship, while building upon the romantic tensions initiated in the first two seasons. Set aside some time for Lovesick and get ready to binge.
16. Casual

Just like our beloved Netflix, Hulu also has some really great original shows. Casual was one of the first original shows on the streaming service.
Casual is about a newly divorced woman named Valerie and her daughter Laura who move in with her bachelor brother Alex. Together Alex and Valerie make their way into the dating world again but only wanting casual hookups and flings.
It’s a comedy-drama about finding yourself and weaving through the modern dating life. The fourth and final season will be eight episodes and will air in 2018. It’s something not to be missed.
