The Good Place: Top Moments from “Derek” (Season 2 Episode 8)

The Good Place Season 2 Episode 8, “Derek,” proves once again why it’s one of the funniest TV comedies on the air right now. Kristen Bell and D’Arcy Carden are killing it episode by episode. These two women are phenomenal.

“Derek” is chalk-full of great moments so picking just a few were hard, but here are my top moments from “Derek.”

Love Lost

Eleanor spends most of the episode pining over the fact that she’s keeping a supermassive secret from Chidi, which is why she finds ways to make herself feel better for keeping the secret. Example: Eleanor is getting approval from Chidi that it’s not immoral if it’s saving someone from pain. But Eleanor knows that she still needs to come out and say it – which is what she does.

I have to say; I am a little upset. I thought that maybe Chidi would have been feeling the same things and is just good at hiding it, but I guess not. I feel bad for Eleanor because this is what she feared – rejection.

Eleanor was okay with being rebooted again so that she could forget about her and Chidi and wouldn’t have to be miserable all of the time. #EleanorDeservesBetter. Just kidding.

Janet’s New Boo

Whoever came up with this storyline in the writer’s room deserves a pat on the back because “Derek” is one of the funniest episodes this season all because of Janet and Derek.

Janet’s character development is one of my favorites – mainly because of D’Arcy Carden. I can’t see anyone else playing this role because Carden wholly owns it. – because she goes from this clueless robot to being one of the ones with the most drama in the group.

Derek and Janet’s fights are what absolutely make the episode because they are so hysterical and crazy during a time where they should be serious.

No Weddings Today

I’m pretty confident that this is the first time I’ve yelled “thank god” at my TV in almost a year. Tahani and Jason do not need to be getting married. Done. End of story.

Either Tahani sees something in Jason because he’s completely opposite of her or she’s just going delusional now that she’s dead.

Thank gosh that Eleanor, Michael, and Chidi showed up and stopped it. If it breaks Tahani and Jason up somehow, I’d be okay with a love triangle fight between Tahani, Jason, and Janet.

Preferably with it ending in Janet and Tahani getting together and leaving Jason out.
