American Horror Story: Cult Review: Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag (Season 7 Episode 7)
Things take a left on American Horror Story: Cult Season 7 Episode 7, “Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag,” as it is the first episode where it’s hard to stay interested.
Maybe it’s just the fact that I don’t like Lena Dunham and don’t care to sit and watch her on my television, but I’m thoroughly unimpressed with “Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag.”
The most exciting thing that happens the entire episode is the death of Harrison and the plot twist at the end.
It’s no secret that Kai is a psychopathic nut with a plan, but now he’s even getting his own followers to turn on him – by being the mastermind and putting the thought inside of their heads.
Bebe claims to be the lover of Valerie Solanas, but is she really? After the reveal that Bebe is in cohorts with Kai, how can anything she said be believed? More importantly, why does Kai want the women in the group to take sides against him?

Beverly has been on the road to overthrowing Kai for a while now and now that Bebe has put the thought inside of her, Winter, and Ivy’s heads it’s time to put it into action – by killing Harrison.
Killing Harrison and calling Kai out on live television the way Beverly does is risky business for all of them when they know just what Kai is capable of. Beverly is sick and tired of not being treated as an equal to Kai, but she’s going about her overthrow the wrong way.
You don’t make it known to someone like Kai that you just killed one of his men, and you’re coming after him too without having a plan, which is something Beverly doesn’t have. She’s rushing and not thinking straight – rushing always leads to problems.

It’s obvious that Kai will always be ten steps ahead – Bebe being a perfect example – but I would like to see Beverly stand a fighting chance against him. I want to see her figure out that he knows about Bebe and that he’s the one who sent her to get them all riled up.
If not Beverly I’d like Winter to be the one to figure out the ugly truth about Kai turning his own sister against him on purpose. It’s time that she sees who he really is and leaves him to be by himself.
Winter truly thinks that Kai would never hurt her, but I’m not so sure. I think that if it increased his chances of getting what he wanted he would do whatever he had to do to Winter in a heartbeat because that’s just who he is. He’s sick in the head.
Besides Harrison being a backstabbing traitor to Meadow I liked him and wish he hadn’t of been the one to get axed. I wish that Detective No Words would be the one to get the ax.
Maybe now that Harrison has died we’ll get some real backstory about how the detective joined in on everything.
Other Thoughts:
- I don’t want Winter to die. She may be twisted, but I’m blaming that all on Kai and his manipulations.
- In the end, I think Winter will sabotage any plan Beverly has to kill Kai only because that’s her brother.
- Beverly is just as crazy as Kai so it’ll be interesting to see where she goes with her new power trip.
