Teen Wolf Review: Face-to-Faceless and Pressure Test (Season 6 Episodes 14-15)
A faceless creature rises just in time for a standoff spurred on by fear, revenge, and prejudice on Teen Wolf Season 6 Episodes 14 and 15, “Face-to-Faceless” and “Pressure Test.”
It’s haunting watching people letting their prejudice and fear overtake them to a point where they turn their backs on their neighbors and friends. And honestly, after Charlottesville, I can’t help but compare Teen Wolf to what’s happening in our nation.
Fear is twisting up people we never thought were capable of such atrocities. Deputies who swore to protect the residence of Beacon Hills are turning against one another. Guidance counselors who got started because they wanted to help people are now hunting children.
And people who felt the pain of the past couple of seasons of Teen Wolf are now becoming the monsters they fear.
The pack tries to prove that they aren’t the enemy. They meet up with the hunters and try to have peace talks that any leader who’s looking to avoid a war would take part in. They try to meet the hunters halfway.
But the hunters don’t want peace or negotiations.
They’ve been hurt so badly that reason is thrown out the window the moment their loved ones die. All they crave for now is revenge. And with the creature that’s circling the town, I don’t see how things are going to get better anytime soon.
So far, the deaths that we’ve been witnessing have been from other packs or from guest wolves. Soon enough one of the pack members we love and cherish will be up on the chopping block, because there’s no way that they get out of this unscathed.
I also still stand by my theory that Gerard isn’t really there. The creature that Deaton is studying has two faces.
One is beautiful, while the other is horrifying. But what if the horrifying face is camouflaging itself in someone ugly like Gerard so no one would look for it there?
The deputy who hangs himself does it out of fear of Nolan. So maybe Gerard isn’t the only one with a different side to him. And maybe, like Gerard, he doesn’t know that he has his other side within him.
I know it kind of sounds like I’m jumping the gun, but this is Teen Wolf. Crazy is what they do.
Everything isn’t doom and gloom despite the hard things that the McCall pack faces in this double episode, though. They stand at each others’ sides, trust in each other, and take into account other people’s opinions. This is making them stronger.
And Liam, the de-facto alpha when Scott leaves for college, is experiencing hardships that he’s never faced before, but will set them up for what’s to come when he’s in charge of caring for Beacon Hills.
Yes, he’s teetering right now. Yes, he’s letting his anger break through all the hard work he’s done. And yes, he’s on the brink of going completely wolf.
But the fact that he isn’t alone in this, none of them are alone in this, makes it so that he will survive anything that this storm brings to their door. Because these wolves, creatures, and humans aren’t just the pack. They’re a family.
